Wide Arch Kit

I've seen the black/silver + checkers MINI with a wide arch kit, and would like to see another car with this kit installed. Anyone out there have one?

Well, this isn't the same kit i had in mind, but it does kind of give me an idea of what a wide kit will look like.

This is the kit I am looking for another pic of....

That is $600 for plastic spats! Might not be a lot of cars with them.

That's the Breyton Kit.
Nobody has posted anything about it on their car that I've ever read. It's the only one I've ever seen that doesn't look crap.

The wheels in the photos are 17" Fittipaldis - They a friend's, we just fitted them for the photo. I'm still shopping for the perfect set.

Excellent.
Definitely begging for more meat underneath. I realize shading in the pic may effect appearance some.
Need a straight on pic to show the tire set. That way you know how much you can change the offset to push the tires out a bit, if needed.
What color/texture do they come with from the factory?

Oh! Welcome to the site. Nice first post

Edit:
Ooops! Just went to your gallery. Definitely need less positive offset.

Hey, welcome to MINI2!!

I'd be really interested in discussing wheel size and offset for the breyton wide arch kit. I have an idea of what I will be looking for, but still need to do the math.

Oh, and thanks for the pic! I've been really anxious to see a good picture...

The tires he's got are 205/45's, I think he needed at least 215's. I'm considering getting 17x7.5 with 215/45/17, with wheel spacers if necessary - I'm concerned about roughness on ride so didn't want to go 18's. Think I can swing going 17x8's?

Thanks for the warm welcomes, guys! I believe the straight-ahead shot still has my stock wheels on there, which are the 15's, so that shot's not representative. He only actually installed the wheels on the right side to see how they would look. They're nice, but I'll probably be getting an 8-spoke set... Haven't seen any great posts on aftermarket wheels in these forums yet.

You might want to get as great a negative offset as desired rather than spacers. I don't know how much of a change in offset is safe, but a negative change in offset provides for a wider stance.

How much bigger are these arches?

There is a 45mm (1.77 in) positive offset for a 15 in. stock wheel. 1/2 the increase in rim width plus the change in offset plus tire width increase plus any additional widening desired

here is a description of how offset is measured

With 15 x 6.5 wheels,
upgrading to 7 in wide adds 1/4 in (6.35mm) outward leaving 44.5mm to account for,
7.5 in wide adds 1/2 in (12.7mm) outward leaving 38.15mm to account for,
8 in wide wheels adds 3/4 in outward leaving 31.8mm to account for.

A change in offset or a wider tire width can more than cover the 45-30mm or whatever the case may be.

15 x 6.5 in wheels come with 175 series tires
16 x 6.5 in wheels come with 195 series tires
17 x 7 in wheels come with 205 series tires

7 in = 177.8mm
7.5 in = 190.5mm
8 in = 203.2mm

I'm almost to the point of opening up excel and making a spreadsheet....well, what I'm getting at here is that there are lots of ways to fill out the extra couple inches the breyton arches create.

IMHO... that's just plain ugly. I was talking about the body kit and not the people.
