Question bonnet stripes and clear protectant

I recently received my new Cooper S. It was supposed to have white bonnet stripes on it. It came without the stripes, however, they added on the Road Block clear protectant (clear bra) which I also purchased. The dealer is telling me that they can cut around where the bonnet stripes will go and then put the stripes down.

I wondered what the process would be if I had the bonnet stripes originally and they put the clear protectant down? Are they cutting around b/c that is the normal process or are they just "jerking me around" b/c they don't want to pay to have the whole thing removed and re-added once the bonnet stripes are on?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

i think that i have seen pics of the clear bra on top of the bonnet stripes. do a search for the clear bra and look at the pics. i think your dealer might be "jerking you around" but i am not sure.

i have heard bad things about the magnetic bonnet stripes, something about paint fading and discoloration. there is a thread on that as well.

clear bra just goes over top the bonnet stripes.

Magnetic is bad for 3 reasons.

1. they are thicker and from an angle can be seen as more of an add on them the decal stripes
2. people have had theirs fly off.
3. scratches paint if you ever put them on dirty or they get dirty while off the car

Don't let them do that! If your order had been filled correctly, the stripes would go on, then the clear bra on top of them. If you let them cut the bra around where the stripes will go, it will introduce more film edges than there should be. Not to mention possible scratches from the cut job.

Doesn't matter whether it was a factory screw-up or a dealer screw-up - the dealer represents MINI and you should demand that they make it right. JMO.

The clear bra went on over my stripes. Don't let those guys near your car with knives or
razors. Have them remove the clear bar, install the stripes, then install a NEW clear bra.

I talked to them again and they said it was the only way they could do it. I let them as such. It looks fine now, but do you guys think there is any recourse should I have a problem in the future?

I've done this more than several times - put the clear bra down first - let it cure for 48 hours and then put the stripes OVER the paint protection. If you go the other way you will destroy your clear bra if you ever want to change your stripes.

It can be dones this way and trust me in the long run you will be happier.
