The Blue Vision Ultra actually out performed the Vision Plus bulbs in this years test. They are not blue max power style but produce a very white light at 4000K

It was acceptable in the 80's

thanks for the tip on where to get them Johnlondonw3. Ordered mine today and got sidelights free even though the cooper officially takes 4w bulbs and not the 5's that are in the free offer.

top tip John.

cheers

main lights are H7's and she knows the rest as she has just done my order. The indicators are the silver vision ones and she might give you the sidelights free (she did for me!).

In total it cam to £42 and something.

hope that helps

cheers

Paul

Not doubting you, but Philips don't advertise the two types of Blues Vision bulbs on their website. They only have Blue Vision bulbs listed as a link, wich when followed shows a pack of Blue Vision Ultra bulbs. The blurb from the Philips site from this link reads:

"The Original and Leading choice in blue bulbs
Produces a whiter Xenon type of light for the best reflection from road markings and signs
Lasts up to 3 times longer than other blue bulbs in the market"

The link from the Vision Plus bulb:

"The one and only leading +50% bulb
+ 50% more light on the road
+ 20 metres longer beam
Better reflection from road markings and signs"

On the Autoexpress web site, they only review Philips Blue Vision bulbs (listed under 'Standard' bulbs), with no mention of Blue Vision Ultra bulbs.

Following the link on the Powerbulbs website for the Autoexpress winners 2003, brings a page with the same quotes as the current Autoexpress website. http://www.powerbulbs.com/bulbtest/index.htm

Philips Vision Plus
4 Star award - Recommended Award - Beam: 95.1m

"It's behind Osram's finest, but Philips' top-of-the-range option is a superb bulb which performed comfortably ahead of the plus 30% premium versions. You just cannot ignore the performance, which is why the Vision Plus merits our Recommended award."

Philips Blue Vision (Picture of Blue Vision Ultra)
4 Star award - Beam: 78m

"Among the blue bulbs, Philips Blue Vision does well, as it uses the Premium's plus 30 percent technology. Despite a lower light output than the winning Lucas bulb, it was a shade better at 75m."

From the information I have seen, I can't see how the Blue Vision (Ultra) is better than the Vision Plus, apart from producing a whiter light.

I ordered my H7 VisionPlus bulbs from Autolamps-online in Cheshire, England.

Have been VERY happy with the performance. Even put a set in our other car.

The ones you want are H7s for both dip and main. Have a look at http://www.powerbulbs.com/products/b...hilips&type=H7 or
http://www.powerbulbs.com/products/b...=osram&type=H7

Fitting is a dead easy ten minute job. Bonnet Up, rubber cover off the back of the light fitting. Pull the connector wire off. Release the strong spring clip (hardest part of the job). Remove old bulb, insert new and reverse process. The base of the bulbs have 'lugs' on them so will only seat properly if the correct way round. When fitted, turn on and make sure the beam pattern looks 'right' If it doesn't the bulb is probably not seated correctly.

Two points.

DO NOT touch the bulb glass AT ALL (and I really do mean AT ALL) with your fingers. The oil on your fingertips will cause the bulb to fail.

DO NOT drop the bulb. They are presurised so will explode quite spectacularly.

Is this for the fitting of the "dipped headlights" As im gonna use the forums faq section for the fitting of the "sidelights" and "indicators"
And just by looking @ the mini under the bonnet......as i look i up i feel its gonnabe a bit of wrk fitting the dipped headlight bulbs!!!!..............dammmm!!

The side lights and indicators are simple, you can take the holders out on them remove the bulbs frm the holders and put the new bulbs in. Then just hold the holders so don't have to worry about touching the bulbs.

The Dipped beam is simler, you can use the attachement to hold the bulb so don't have to worry about touching the bulb.

Damo suggested the following:
Main/Hi Beam: Philips Vision Plus
(They're awesome compared to the standard main beam on my new Xenon'd Car!)
Dipped Beam: Philips Vision Plus
(Again awesome compared to the standard)
Side Lights: Philips Blue Vision
(Match the normal lights but not quite Xenons hence I've got 4 LED sidelights on new car)
Indicators: Philips Silver Vision

Í know that the main/hi beam are H7. But I don't know this for the other lights. I also have the extra driving lights. Is it also possible to upgrade these ones aswell!?!?

Thanx!

Followed your instructions to the letter , job done, checked..Took no longer than 10 mins!

Thanks mate!

Main/Dipped/Full/Hi are H7. (Whatever you call em all the lights in the main unit thats in the bonnet are ALL H7 unless you have Xenons)

The Side Lights are the small 5w jobbies, w5w I think theyre called.

Indicators, don't have a clue what they are.

I beleive the fogs are H11, but has anyone here tried changing the bulbs for them. When fitting the Aero kit the fogs have to be moved, and I can tell you now it was very difficult to get any kind of access to the back of them!

The "driving lights"? If you mean the extra "chrome" Full/Hi Beam that go on the grill on the bonnet, there bulbs can be changed, but don't know what they are sorry.

Just a small perspective warning to all those fitting higher output bulbs:

A few years ago I fitted a set to my company car. Back then higher output bulbs were about £10-15 each. As I was commuting each morning and night (2 hours + each way) in winter I found that the bulbs would blow with alarming regularity. After about 5 or 6 changes of bulbs I got fed up an reverted to standard bulbs. I thought that it was the car but it was a similar story on the bulbs fitted to other cars in the family.

On investigating I found that Halfords, Powerbulbs and the bulb manufacturers don't give a warning about the shorter life of bulbs (I think that Halfords now do). The filament burns harder to produce the increased light output. The xenon gas in the bulb is supposed to help cool the filament but I don't see how such a tiny amount of gas has the increased cooling effect. If you drive the MINI as a second car then it is likely that the new bulbs will last you a while.

And if you want white, blue or blue/white LED sidelight bulbs then check out:

www.piaa.co.uk

They're not strictly legal as they're not E-marked.

There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all.
