Offline | Philips Blue Vision bulbs and Philips Vision Plus are not the same thing. Have a look at the product tests at Autoexpress (www.autoexpress.co.uk), I would post a link, but you need to register with the site first. Quoting from Autoexpress "Power claims can be misunderstood, too. The most common one is '30 per cent extra' light, but a standard 12V bulb with such a high output would be illegal. The figure refers to the amount of light on the kerb 75 metres ahead of the car - a critical point for night driving." "This stronger light is achieved by burning a smaller filament harder, to give a tighter focus to the beam. Philips and Osram make 50 per cent brighter bulbs" "A further complication is blue bulbs, which aim to give a BMW or Audi look using filters or coatings to achieve the colour. These coatings actually cut light, and coloured units perform poorly." I have fitted Philips Vision Plus bulbs for both the dipped and high beam in my Cooper (and to the dipped beams in my KA). The biggest difference (on both cars) was on the dipped beam. The spread of the light is much more even and the light is a lot whiter, and nicer to drive by. I managed to pick up 3 sets from ebay for just over £30 for the lot, which was money well spent. |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Philips automotive bulbs have proved to be some of the best on the market. I'm very happy with my Vision Plus. First thing I noticed is if you awitch the lights on in the day even in bright sunlight you can see them on the back of the car in front. Try it on standard bulbs and you can't see a thing! Philips Blue Vision aren't quite as good. This is mainly due to the blue filter to create the HID effect. they are still miles better than standard though. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | I have Philips Blue Vision Ultra in mine, which Auto Express said gave a light very similar to Gas Discharge lights. I dont agree that they do, however they are a significant improvement over the standard bulbs. I would recommend them, the only thing I cant comment on is how they are as main beam, as I only have them in dipped headlights. They definately give off a whiter light than the standard bulbs, just I think it starts getting expensive when you have to buy for the dipped and main beams with them being the H7 fitment. Hope that was of some help! Nick |

What do I do about the yellow indicator in the side light,is this a seperate bulb and can I change this ? Are all the bulbs easy to change ? Whatever you recomend ,could you give an idea where to get them in Uk and how much they cost ? Thanks |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Actually just realised I confused myself. I have the blue vision ultras in my car if this is what you have then these are V good! As for those HiVisibility bulbs. i don't think they're the same as Philips say the Blue Vision Ultras produce 50% extra light those Hi Visibilty ones only say 30%. In fact i cannot find the Blue Vision Ultra or the Vision Plus on the UK Philips site either ![]() ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | John, I believe that you need to change your sidelights to either LEDs, as I suggested in LED thread, these are easy to change, they just twist out. The indicator bulbs could be changed to ring silver vision which appear silver but illuminate orange, the lens will then have a clear appearance. I think this is what you were after an explanation for!, but if not sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick! |

Offline | John - dunno about the LED's but your dealer will stock a silver effect indicator bulb (about £10 per side!) - they're listed in the accesories catalogue and i switched my side lights for a blue version from halfrauds - blue when off and white when on. Dingdangdoo! |

Offline | [quote=FREEZE BOX]Has anyone got the code/model numbers for all the bulbs i require! voltage etc!QUOTE] The ones you want are H7s for both dip and main. Have a look at http://www.powerbulbs.com/products/b...hilips&type=H7 or http://www.powerbulbs.com/products/b...=osram&type=H7 As I already mentioned, I fitted the Vision Plus to my Cooper. Nice bright white light and the bulbs only look faintly blue when held up to the light. According to Autoexpress the blue colour lights such as Philips Blue Vision have less light output than normal bulbs. They are also very blue and look a bit 'Max Power' to me. Fitting is a dead easy ten minute job. Bonnet Up, rubber cover off the back of the light fitting. Pull the connector wire off. Release the strong spring clip (hardest part of the job). Remove old bulb, insert new and reverse process. The base of the bulbs have 'lugs' on them so will only seat properly if the correct way round. When fitted, turn on and make sure the beam pattern looks 'right' If it doesn't the bulb is probably not seated correctly. Two points. DO NOT touch the bulb glass AT ALL (and I really do mean AT ALL) with your fingers. The oil on your fingertips will cause the bulb to fail. DO NOT drop the bulb. They are presurised so will explode quite spectacularly. |

Offline | Well My idea of perfect lights if you don't have Xenons would be Main/Hi Beam: Philips Vision Plus (They're awesome compared to the standard main beam on my new Xenon'd Car!) Dipped Beam: Philips Vision Plus (Again awesome compared to the standard) Side Lights: Philips Blue Vision (Match the normal lights but not quite Xenons hence I've got 4 LED sidelights on new car) Indicators: Philips Silver Vision I don't work for Philips but theyre the ones I've tried. Equivalent Osram would obvioulsy be just as good probably. Word of advise, I can't stress enough that you have to make sure the dipped beam bulbs are seated correctly as if not they blind people AND you can't see where you going, or they shine to short a distance a look pointless! Same goes for Main/Hi Beam but less so as it easier to see weather these are seated correctly. I recomend you fit them with the front end of the car in a garage so you can see the beam pattern on a wall in the dark. Not done anything with my fogs, but got to check weather new car is H7 or H11 for them when take bumper off for bodykit. ![]() |

Offline | can someone do me a favour?? i'm overseas right now and so i don't have my car's manual on hand but i want to buy light bulbs for my car - currently i use PIAA blue/white light bulbs but i want to get phillips vision plus or osram silver stars....because i've heard they're pretty good - can someone suggest something to me?? i want to replace the normal lights (dipped beam) and the parking lights (what i'm assuming u ppl r calling the side lights) - i not only want to change the indicator light but also the other light because it's a little bit yellow and doesn't go v.well with the white lights i've got and want to get. oh and i also want to change the high beams (or the main beams as ur calling them) and the foglights so that everything is white. i've been told that u have to take off the bumper to change the fogs? so maybe i won't change them teeheecan u tell me what sort of bulb i need for these so i dun get it wrong? i think dipped beams are H7s? but what r the rest? thanks heaps guys ![]() i got an exhaust because i wanted to make my car sound fast, but its not fast at all, so therefore i am a ricer.... |
