Question rear wiper blade replacement

Has anyone had success replacing the rear wiper blade with a non-OEM blade? After inspecting the way the rear blade attaches to the arm today, I concluded it wasn't possible.

I ran into a similar situation. I replaced the front blades but was unable to even locate a replacement blade as a third party product. I will have to check with the dealer next time I am in...

It looks like I'll have to add a couple new rear blades to my next order with Classic MINI.

Why not just buy from your dealer. Over here the prices for replacement blades don't seem more expensive than after-market.

I bought a blade kit from halfords for about £2.99 - it contains about 4 replacement rubbers - measure your current one - cut new one to length - slide old one off and new one on - hey presto! Jobs a good un!

And i've still got 3 spares - but serously you don't need to worry about a complete arm - just buy the rubbers.

Wul:
Did the kit you bought work for the rear wiper? The front wipers are pretty much mounted in a standard way, but the rear blade has a very narrow mounting strip that connects to a funky plastic thing. I couldn't see any way to put a generic refill in the back.

I go to extremes to save a penny, but then I'll blow thousands on some impulse purchase. I'm weird like that.

DIY

Minimum - it was only the rear wiper i replaced in this way due to there not being any commercially available full assembly - i replaced the fronts complete.

All you do is slide the rubber part along the arm and over the end stopper - it slides easily and reverse the process with the new blade. Simple.

Hope this helps!

Here's a pic of the end showing how the rubber part slides in/out over the trrack and over the stopper:

Nice! Thanks for the picture.

We don't have Halford's here in the states, but maybe what I'll do is remove the original blade and take it into a local auto parts store and see what kind of reaction I get.

You dont happen to know if Halfords make the 5 blade wiper rubbers to fit the MINI as the original single blades are absolutely hopeless!
cheers jairfranz
