Offline | Ultimate Grille Installed I haven't done many mods that are non-performance related, and I suppose this one could be argued to be no different due to the increased air flow it makes for. Aesthetically, I like it though, and that has me posting here... The install time is approximately 1 hour, and I can see it being less with some previous experience in that area. Offline | Hey obe, yes, it caught my eye also, and to be honest, I should have gained several ounces with this mod. I suppose the few ounces lost on the bored TB might have been gained back Again, the stock one, while not looking as nice, also has quite a few holes plugged; the airflow should be improved over the stock unit, and I find that worthwhile...I got mine from Peter at M7. He will be offering them for the grille above, and eventually the back as well Happy New Year to you and your family!!!'03 (9.6.02) MCS IB/W Lapis Blue Leather Mission = 10:1 (Weight:HP) |

Offline | I do wonder slightly about those, as someone else mentioned before. While air is let into more of the front of the car, it could be less effective at cooling as it's not all directed where MINI wanted it to go, where it's needed most. |

Offline | obe has been PM'd... Paul, the thought crossed my mind also. But, after inspecting the factory plastic grille, I'm convinced that is not the case. Holes are plugged on the stocker in a way that seemingly reflects that MINI had aesthetic concerns - ie, not seeing some plumbing through the grille area... I think it looks sort of trick, like those watch faces where you can see what's behind the scenes ![]() '03 (9.6.02) MCS IB/W Lapis Blue Leather Mission = 10:1 (Weight:HP) |

Offline | With this grille you'd need to completely remove it in order to attach the front tow hook. Not a daily concern I know, but an additional hassle at the worst possible time? + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

Offline | Bruce, that is a good point. If I was in such a bind, I'd just snip a piece, and fold it back to get the tow hook inserted. Then, when all is fine, just bend the piece back into position. For those who don't know, the stock unit has a provision (a plug) for this unfortunate scenario... Curt, I really don't know the answer to your question. Peter would certainly know, if that is something you find important.... '03 (9.6.02) MCS IB/W Lapis Blue Leather Mission = 10:1 (Weight:HP) |

Offline | Perforated would be much stronger. You could probably tell when you installed it. The expanded stuff tends to collapse back to it's original size. The perforated you can lean against a wall and it maintains it's shape fairly well. |

Offline | Well, then it is perforated! Thanks obe. It is very rigid indeed. Surprisingly so actually... '03 (9.6.02) MCS IB/W Lapis Blue Leather Mission = 10:1 (Weight:HP) |
