Offline | I put my Saxo 16v badge on the hatchback of my Silver/Black Cooper 16 months ago and thought it looked great - I still do. The style of text almost matches the Cooper text. Black & Chrome MCC. It's a MINI Jim - but not as we know it! Last edited by schapman : Jan 9th, 2004 at 07:15 PM. |

| Remember | I think that kind of says it all, it either does or doesn't match, in this case its a different font, different size, and different thickness. There are so many other great badges out there, like someone already mentioned a John Cooper Script would look great, maybe even an old classic badge would give you some individuality, or how about a chrome Union Jack, so many great choices, all of which would not have people that know cars or branding questioning why is there a Saxo badge on the MINI? The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? ![]() |

Offline | I would say leave the badge off (with the caveat that it's your car - so do what you feel is right). When mass market cars had fuel injection fitted, people emblazoned their cars with "Injection"; when dual overhead camshafts were introduced, people put "DOHC" on. Nowadays 80%+ of UK vehicles have 16 valves so it's not really a special wow factor anymore. My aunties new Nissan Micra has 16 valves for example. I'm all for John Cooper badges and the MG Union/Finish badge - they look cool. There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all. |

Offline | Jimmy have to say i already have tints all the way round ha ha .............. it looks the dogs b******s although you alrady know that. I think the John Cooper chrome signature isn't out of place. If it said works then yes i would. But it is literally just john cooper's signature. Personally i think it just enhances on the cars heritage. Most of us proudly have the 'cooper' badge emblazened on the back of our cars. I think the signature builds upon this without making it appear to be something that it's not. I've had some camera probs of late but will send you some pics when ive sorted them out. Gettin four of the driving lamps fitted in the next couple of weeks can't wait I live in Headingley at the mo, where are you? |

Offline | When I fitted my 16v badge some 16 months ago I would guess that it MAY have been one of the first few fitted (not the very first one !) and in fact I fitted it a couple of days prior to Mini in the Park 2002. At that show I had several people coming up to me commenting how good it looked and where did I get it etc, etc. Look out for me and my MINI at the Shows and Runs this year and take a look for yourself ! I also have the union/chequer flags badge (off an MG) fitted beneath the Cooper badge and black Cooper Laurels (genuine Rover ones) in Black fitted on the 'A' panels ! ! ! To me and my wife they all look great - not over the top and 'in your face' Each to his own as they say. I will get some piccies on as soon as I can. Black & Chrome MCC. It's a MINI Jim - but not as we know it! |

Offline | Have just gone back to the beginning and read all the comments about the 16v badge. Restyle - you have seen my badge and I think you made no negative comments, also why would anyone want to put a 'Type R' badge on a MINI anyway ! ! 16v - yes. Some would argue that one shouldn't put a union jack flag on as the car is German ! ! Better sign off now , this could get nasty !! Black & Chrome MCC. It's a MINI Jim - but not as we know it! |

| Remember | The MINI is made in the UK, mainly designed in the UK and with UK heritage, so thats why people put UJ on the MINI. The only reason I think if you read Restyles comment the Type R badge was only used as a comparative to the 16V idea of badging. The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? ![]() |

| Damned | Hi schapman, Hows it going, Put in the order yet As I have said, My "Type R" Analogy was a poor one, & it is better related to badging with an "i (for injection)", which as Dietcoke says, has somwhat lost its <WOW> factor due to almost Every car produced being Injected for emmision reasons, along with DOHC & TC (Twin Carb) designations. Yes, I believe we will always have some status badging such as V8 & possibly GTI, but I do believe the 16V badge is a quickly dissappearing Icon of the 90`s era, as it is increasingly rare to find an Octovalved Engine (now theres a great term for Auto Historians). I`m not one to pass Bad comment on anyones car, Yours was probably the 1st MINI I`d seen with the badge, although to be honest I couldnt recall it until you just mentioned it. Ive just found a couple of pics of it on your car, & OK I admit .... it does look Good. {Restyle now Hastily eats his own words} PS. Thought people might like to see your car adorned with the New Anti-Theft Devices ![]() ![]() In da Wud |

| MINI2 Global Moderator | If you remember some of the pre-launch photos of the MINI, they had Cooper written on the back in that style. Looks quite good if you ask me, just like Damo says those of us with MG badges on our MINIs have no room to talk! ![]() the MINI has gone... |
