Help with replacing the front grill? (not aero)

Hi All,

I want to replace the front grill on my cooper s with the exact same standard grill but in a different colout. I have already got the parts for the top and botton grill but have a couple of problems.

1. The top grill is secured with very brittle plastic screws. One has snapped already and the others lose their thread when undone. Has anyone got some tips for getting these on and off?

2. The lower grill - I only want to replace the horizontal slat and not the chrome surround? Can this be done without removing the bumper? Again, can anyone advise on the best way to get this off?

Thanks
Stuart

1. take them off by prying the locking bolt off with a screwdriver while you unscrew the bolt. you will probably not be able to use this part again... it is the nature of how they are attached.

2. take off the chrome surround (it will go back on with no problem) then gently pry off the colored slat. it is just on with double stick tape. remove the tape, attach the new slat, then reattach the chrome piece. and no you don't have to take off the bumper. i didn't have to do it when installing my aero grill.

note: you may want to paint the support for the bottom slat as it is the same color as your car. i do not know if this will show up or not.

hope this helps.
