| MINI2 Newbie | Sunroof blind question? I don't think I'll be speccing the sunroof on mine, I prefer the plain white roof but there's one thing that might sway me over. Can the sunroof blind be closed while the actual sunroof is open? and how good is it in letting air pass through. If this were the case, it would be perfect for camping in the car, as it will be perfect as a flyscreen, keeping mosquitoes out at night, no need to open the window, or keep them closed and steam up the car And by the way, would the sunroof makes the car less rigid? my policies on car speccing is that if it doesn't makes the car goes faster or more usefull, think twice. |

Offline | Yep, the sunroof blind makes a perfect flyscreen and can be kept closed with the roof in the vent position. On the fully open position the blind is forced to retract. The mesh is, umm, about 2-3 times more dense than fishnet stockings. (Only analogy I could think of) ![]() I fully understand your faster sentiment, but the MINI roof with the twin glass area makes the car light inside. Once you drive a sunroof car you'll think the standard car is a bit dark and claustrophobic. There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all. |

| MINI2 Newbie | Thankys for you all... I sleep on the seats reclined okay, or maybe fold down the rear seats, it'll be only for occasional use only though, at a service area and things like that. As where I'll be using the car, Thailand, is too hot to be driving around with the windows down, the sunroof will only get occasional use. Plus, parking out in the sun with a mobile glasshouse is well... My previous car with the sunroof only gets a few airtime, but It has a solid sunblind which makes it tolerable. I've seen some sticker for the sunroof where it's a sort of perforated film, the sort that's used on a side of a bus maybe, has anyone got them? |
