I've done a lot of searching through the forums and so far established that the shark fin aerials used on Minis (at least up to 04) were used purely for GPS and telephony and on vehicles which had the Shark Fin aerial the FM aerial is relocated to the driver's side rear window. I know that a lot of people were interested in replacing their standard aerial with a shark fin, but obviously this would not be possible.

However, in the thread about the changes to 04 Minis it is suggested that all new Minis come with the Shark Fin Aerial as standard. This fact isn't really confirmed either way - does anyone know for definite if this is the case.

Supposing this is the case, have Mini managed to incorporate the aerial into it as well, or is the aerial now in the drivers side rear window as standard and all cars without sat nav will just have a dummy shark fin? If the FM aerial is incorporated into the Shark Fin then would the be retrofitable onto a pre 04 Mini? If this is the case it would seem to solve a lot of problems as there have been numerous posts about retrofitting the pre04 shark fin.
