Changing the 3rd brake light with a spoiler??

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the 3rd brake light if you have a spoiler fitted? I have the Aero Kit spoiler and am about to fit clear rear lights but am not sure if I can change the 3rd brake light because of the spoiler.

Any help apreciated.

hi. i dont actually have a spoiler, but i've heard from ppl who hae spoilers, and clear third brake lites that it can be done. unfortunately its dodgy as hell, the only method i no of is to actually push up the spoiler out of the way, seems a bit suspect to me, but if its the only way...

Hi, i dont know what the areo kit spoiler is like but i know that it cant be done with a cooper or one spoier without removing the spoiler a bit.

With a cooper S it can be done without moving it at all i am told but it is a tight fit.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies. I did read on one thread that someone had to smash the old light to get it out and then managed to fit the new one Either way I think i'll pay BMW to do it, they might say it can't be done but i'll ask. Failing that i'll leave the third red light where it is as it's not that noticable with the spoiler, although it would bug me. Would rather have all the lights clear or none at all.

I have the clear rear lenses on my Indi Blue Cooper. I dont have the third brake light installed on mine yet. I dont know weather i want it or not yet. Still deciding.

Have a look in my gallery for pictures of you like for the lights clear rear and red top brake light.

Thumbs up

Cheers Magik that's very helpful TBH I don't think it makes that much difference with the clear 3rd light so I may not bother considering the hassle it's likely to be with my spoiler. The clear lenses make most of the impact, btw they look great on indi blue

Just to let you know that the 3rd clear brake light turned up this morning. It took me 20 mins to fit at 8 this morning in the cold rain. The light came out easy enough and the new one fitted in even easier, had a bit of hassle with the connecting wires though but that was probably because my fingers were numb and I was still a bit tired Like I said before though there is only just enough clearence with my spoiler so I could see if it was positioned as little as 5mm lower you could have trouble.

Thanks for the rep points Magik
