Offline | Ice Delaminates 3M Sunroof Graphic I came back from a week vacation and had the car washed and had significant delaminating in the sunroof graphic. The car was parked outside and had about 3" of snow on it. I am sure it experienced a number of freezing/thawing cycles while parked on the street in Chicago in January/February. I captured the obvious damage of the peeling on the front and the chunk missing from the middle. There is moisture that has seeped under the areas surrounding the damage. The feedback I got from CooperFlags was that they have found that this material does not stand up to well to ice. Cold weather is not an issue, but several days in ice conditions and high moisture content has proven to be disastrous. They offered to replace it but advised that I hold off on installing it until spring. Tough news, I really loved the CooperFlags graphic and thought it looked great, but the prospect of having to buy a new one every year is a little daunting. |

Offline | This was an issue we did not know about going into the winter season and quite frankly one that 3M did not make an issue of. Their largest concern was heat; ice was never even an issue we/they considered. We have gone to notifying people in colder climates that they should wait for spring if their cars are going to be left outside and there is a chance of ice and snow. The few cases we have seen have come from prolonged exposure or with people running through automatic car-washers. We are launching a lower priced solid vinyl sunroof graphic which will hold up to the ice and extreme weather. The solid vinyl will be more durable, but it does not have the perforations. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused any of our customers and we are working to make this right with anyone who may have been affected by this. matt@cooperflags.com |
