Offline | Black trim all painted Just got my DS/B MCS back from having all the black trim painted. The trim is now all DS and the front mesh below bumper at front is aluminium silver and so are the two small mesh grills in the rear bumper. Just given it 2 coats of Zaino and then extra gloss. I think it was money well spent ,only trouble was it went in on 9/2/04 and I just got it back at 4 pm on 17/2/04. |

Offline | Sorry about lack of pics,I dont have a digital camera,we have one at work ,but I'm off this week so will take some on Monday/Tuesday next week and post. It has cost £300 in total, thats to remove front and rear bumpers, all the black trim, rub trim flat , 2 coats of primer and plasticiser,2 coats of Dark Silver and then clear coat, mesh taken out of front and rear bumpers sprayed aluminium silver (audi colour) ,air vents on bonnet taken out and sprayed Dark silver, then reasemble. I took off the metal strips on side skirts following the advice on here, otherwise the the body shop just rip them off and damage them, and they cost £25 each to replace, however they managed to accidently throw them out.So I said I wasnt paying for new ones they accept this and have new ones on order from BMW. To date Ive only paid £150 for the work ,they get the rest when they fit the new metal strips,,,, I dont care if they dont do it,I can easily do myself and save £100 ! All in I think it was a fair price (£300) as the main dealer wanted £1400 for just the trim,i.e. excluding all the mesh I had painted, they would probably have been quicker, but the guys who have done my work have been pretty good ,and I wouldnt have a problem recommending them. They previously had the contract for BMW/MINI body work with the local dealership, only loosing it when the dealer built a new workshop and moved all the work in house.......no wonder given what they charge. The car looks lower and better finished,if your thinking about it,and I also considered the aero kit ,I would do whichever you can afford but if you have the aero kit make sure they colour code the wheel arches . I decided I couldnt afford the aero kit ,but I'm very pleased with what I have had done Hope this helps |
