Offline | Cooper S side skirts for a Cooper. I'm picking up my car on the 1st March but my dealer is being a bit of a pain. I asked if they could fit Cooper S side skirts and rear spoiler and they gave me the official BMW Mini response, "sorry can't supply those parts if you haven't got that model". I've decided to get them to fit the Aero rear spoiler but I really do want the S side skirts. I know it's easy to fit them but I don't fancy doing it myself. Has anybody got any ideas where I could buy and get S side skirts fitted?? |

Offline | I had a Cooper before my Works S and fitted S side skirts myself and it was quite easy (I think I got the info from Mini2 FAQ, including photos - if you cannot find them email me I may still have them). I got the S skirts from local Mini dealer, no problem. If your dealer will not supply them, try another. Also PM Minty he may be able to help you . Good luck. ![]() |

Offline | If your dealer won't fit them THEY STINK! What a bunch of w******s. They are really easy to fit anyway.... cost about £95 Take a strong kitchen knife to the silver trim kick plates and ever so gently cut them off. Go to partco and buy a roll of double sided foam tape so you can stick them back on again. The clips you can see either side under the kick plates can be reused.... carefully turn them a quarter of a turn and pull them out. There are about eight plastic screws underneath along the edge of the trim. Unscrew these and reuse them. Once the above are removed just pull the trims off. The fixing clips underneath will break, but don't worry the S sills comes with new clips. Refittng is reverse of removal. Takes under one hour if working slowly. Suggest you just go into the parts dept and order using the part numbers: B51 71 1 491 056 side skirt (£23) B51 71 1 491 057 side skirt (£23) Prices are wrong though! Details here... http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...per+side+sills |

Offline | Phone around a few dealers as I got my S sideskirts for free from my dealer. They had taken them off a new demo "S" that they were fitting an aero kit to. Right place, right time for once! My dealer was going to throw them in a skip!! They did ask if I wanted them fitted, but I like doing the mods to my MINI myself where possible (makes the MINI more mine in a way!) so I declined the offer. But they did ask. They are easy to fit by the way, I just bought some new clips from the dealer. |

Offline | Thanks R1, I'm going 2 do just what u suggested. I'm just a bit p****d off that the dealer I'm getting the car from is being an ![]() ![]() ![]() .There's another dealer nearer to me in Chester that I'm going 2 try. Your car rocks by the way. It's pretty much the look I'm going for apart from the roof graphic. ![]() |

Offline | Problems fitting side skirts Had a go at this today. Not as straightforward as I expected (but could just be my incompetence with anything mechanical). Got my side skirts secondhand so no internal fixing clips (think there are 11 each side) - anyone have the part number for these? Also how do I remove the 2-part plastic rivets underneath the skirts (8 each side)? Unscrewing them doesn't seem to work. |

Offline | Taking the screw clips out (if I can remember how I did it!), push a flat bladed screwdriver (or blade of a knife) under the head of the clip to give some pressure on the threaded part underneath, then with the other hand slowly unscrew using a cross-head screw driver. These clips screw out, but you just push the new ones in. Try this on one clip first to make sure I remembered it right! B07 13 0 702 966 plastic rivit qty 8 per side B51 71 1 496 621 plstic clip qty 4 per side Have you seen this thread? http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f...faq_sideskirts |

Offline | Thanks R1 I will try that. I have seen the FAQ thread but I'm fairly sure I need some other clips (not the part numbers you listed) to attach to the skirts before attaching to the Mini. As my skirts have already fitted once all the clips have broken when they were removed. I think if you buy new skirts from BMW these clips come fitted to the skirts. It's these clips that I'm after. |
