Smile New clear tail lights and boot stripes

Got my clear tail lights fitted today and my boot stripes fitted last weekend

Checked to see if I could remove the 3rd brake light as well and I could so i've ordered a clear one of those to match Fitted some small reflectors as a temporary measure until I can get some slightly more apropriate ones.

I'm taking the rear stripes off today I dont think they look right Maybe 'cos of the contrast, takes the focus away from the clear lights, too much vinyl for a little car, I'm not quite sure but they're coming off

I have now removed the rear black stripes as they were IMO too much and took the focus away from the lights. Since the lights were more expensive the stripes had to go

Got the lights off eBay although didn't get the 3rd brake light which is now on order from CoolNew.

I think the lights look pretty cool on all MINI colours but personally prefer Indi Blue, strange since mine is Pure Silver

Just looking for some Cooper Chrome to finish off the exterior

They look great!

I think the chrome boot handle would be a good chrome addition

I'd be interested to know how you get on changing the brake light with that Aero spoiler in the way! I've heard it's not easy

The small reflectors look better than temp. If the size is okay, you might want to consider leaving them on. Just MHO.

Sebby that's what I heard but I thought I'd have a go when swapping the lights over and it was easy. Undone the screws from the back and the light is really thin and just sildes out, so put it back in and ordered a clear one

Oh I see. I wonder what all the previous fuss was about then!

I second what Sebby said about the 3rd brake light.

I've also heard that it's a bit of an a**e to change if you have the aero spoiler.

I'm getting the aero spolier fitted to my PS/B Cooper before I take delivery but I also what to fit the clear white rear lamps.

Let us know how you get on changing it.

I can't see it being a problem for him if he managed to get it out before order the new one

I'm glad that it was so easy for him. I've read posts where people had to smash the old brake light to get it out!

It was easy to remove but there was only just enough clearence to get the LED and circuit board at the back out. I could see if the spoiler had been fitted 3-5mm lower it probably wouldn't have come out. Possiblly varying styles in spoiler Chilli, Aero etc and also positioning of the fitted spoiler would make a difference, spot of luck I guess. As long as the new clear LED is the same thickness I should be alright but I will let you know

I also have to say I love the clear rears! I have them on my PW MCS, and I think they "look the business." (See me trying to talk British! ) Photos in my gallery. Still working on making 'em legal with the reflectors; gtshnzr has been very helpful with tips on how to do that with minimal "damage" to my MINI.

Red reflectors with clear tail lamps

Check out this photo from gtshnzr's gallery:

He said that the dealer installed these for him -- the reflectors are for a BMW 330ci. They popped out the black mesh panels in the lower part of the MCS bumper, and used a Dremel tool to carve out a place for the reflectors to fit snugly onto the mesh, and used screws and perhaps some adhesive to make the reflectors stick. Then the mesh panels were placed back into the underside of the bumper.

I haven't tried this yet, but will do so this weekend. My reflectors are not quite as cool -- they are for a Land Rover, but I placed them, and they should fit OK.
