Rally light question

Hi All,
Gor those of you who have the factory twin rally lamps, I was wondering about how bright they are. Can they be used with normal lights, or are they too bright and so can only be used with the HIBs?
Thanks in advance,
John

Use them only with your high beams, unless you want to upset people and possibly risk a ticket

The wiring harness or circuitry, if dealer installed, is hooked up so that they only will work with high beams on.

Early is on time; On time is late.

I know, but isen't there a seperate on/off switch for them?
Thanks BTW, it's really a bummer that they can't be used with normal headlights...

I didn't get the factor diving light, but the 4 spot light I got also require to hook up to the high beam's wire, so I did my own wiring, now I can turn it on whenever I want

Not on mine, only come on with the high beams.

There is a separate switch on the lower left part of the dash (in US L hand drive version!). If the high beams are not on, the switch does nothing. If the high beams are on, the switch turns the aux lamps on and off. I suppose it draws current from the high beam circuit. But them again, if you install them yourself, you can pull power from wherever.

That's interesting. Here we don't get that switch, the lights just come on with the high beams.

So you get low beams, high beams and super high beams

This might vary from state to state. I know that at least in Florida and Virginia, thanks to another forum poster from VA, the law only allows the rally lamps to be used with high-beams. That's what my dealer also said when they installed mine.

As for brightness, the rally lamps don't seem any brighter than regular headlamps. You must be careful not to use them with their plastic covers on. It will melt the covers and you'll have a big mess, or worse, a fire.
