I am having a world of trouble getting front fog lights retrofitted onto my MC and kicking myself in the process that I just didn't order them in the first place!

I also want to add the rear fogs and factory driving lights at the same time.

At first, dealer said it could not be done (the front fogs)

Found the instruction manual on MINI2 and faxed it to the dealer. Then they said it was no problem.

My appointment is Friday, and yesterday they called that they cannot order the parts, they are European, they don't know which one to order and if the lights are DOT approved in the US.

I found an old thread from 2002 today with info and part numbers, but I don't understand them very well and am afraid to tell the dealer to order the wrong thing.

Part numbers listed in that post are:

63 17 0 029 799 togglesw wiith DSC
63 17 0 029 797 togglesw with ASC+T
63 17 0 029 757 no toggle in second position

I do not have DSC.
I don't actually know what ASC+T is.
I don't have a toggle in the second position - if the first position is the one closest to the driver side of the car.

Can someone help me and my dealer end this confusion?

I ordered the retrofit kit, installed it myself, and then broke a tab on the wiring harness. So now I have an appointment to have a new wiring harness installed and they are charging $275.

As far as the toggle switches are concerned, My car had only three switches, power windows, and locks. I ordered the euro toggle set, with all the switches. Looks great, the ones for DSC, and AST dont do anything, but they dont interfere either.

I think I paid $150 for the whole kit, two lamps, harness, and full toggle bank. Which is why I am a bit miffed that to get them to work will end up costing another $275! My wife says to me last night, $425 for a $150 factory option? What can I say, I have to have them.

P.S. I got the kit from a guy in canada so it has the rear fog light switch on it, looks real good.

you can get the rear fog lights and the full bank in the US now. They are all legal. The full retrofit kit for front and rear fogs is MSRP $199. The price for just the front foglight retrofit kit is MSRP $99 I beleive.
