Has anyone seen vintage roof racks similar to that of the vw beetles made out of wood with metal frames? I have some plans to build them, if I can't find one. Nice old school touch.

Love those old VW racks. Not to keen on the new ones (for the new Beetle).

Vintage looking ones for the MINI would be cool.

But can you mount this type w/o either drilling or messing up the roof lip? I hope so.

So will see what happens, got to meet with the shop that is doing the frame work. It would be very vintage as opposed to kind of vintage. As I get further along I will present so ideas, and yes the attachment to the vehicle would be key.
