Cooper S Carbon Fibre Scoop

Has anyone got any pictures of a Elecric Blue Cooper S with a carbon fibre hood scoop??

I have been toying with the idea of getting one for my new S due in just over 5 weeks, but am unsure what it'll be like!

I am having the arches and under plastics color coded, and like the idea of the hood scoop standing out, so my car will be VERY rare. I also like the look of the chrome scoop, but I'd like to see the CF one also!

Any photo's or even photo shop look-a-likes would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.

Jones!

I've seen the pics, and it looks stunning!

I may end up going for chrome, but I just think CF would look awesome, and it's different!

Why waste your money on a carbon fibre scoop when you can get a primed replacement from MINI for £30 and get it pained any colour you want

...cough....check my gallery....cough...

I read a review of this somewhere and apparently it wreaks havoc with the airflow over the bonnet. Think motorway driving, heavy rain, bouncy windscreen wipers

I can well imagine that! It is low in priority status on my list of up and coming mods!!

Jones, I just noticed you've got the BMP intake - sound great doesn't it

I've just put mine back on after taking it off for winter.....there's not really any logic to that but it seemed like a good idea at the time

What's a BMP intake? Is it like a pipercross filter?

I have a pipercross on my Cooper, and it sounds lovely!! Really want to get a induction kit for the S too! How much do they cost, and does it affect insurance??

Any pics?

Well in answer to your quibbles:

BMP is a cold air intake system so they say. It is more like a sheilded air filter (that keeps the air cooler) but it looks cool. See pic below.

Price: I bought a BMP from the states and paid £117 (inc tax and delivery). Now is a good time with the pound so strong against the dollar.

Affects: Well they claim to increase your bhp by 12bhp which I dont believe. Possibly 5bhp. They make the car sound fab though. This could affect your insurance and WILL affect your warranty. Thats if you tell them! (either) As Wigley said it is easy to remove in the case of the car going in to the dealers!

Here is the pic..... (Your new S deserves one!!)

I wish mine still looked like the one in the pic The downside of removing it a lot is that the nice shiny stainless steel becomes a fine collection of smudges and fingerprints

Jones,

Looks awesome!

I told my dealer about the induction kit on the cooper, and he said as long as they don't get to see it, they'll never know, and it won't affect anything! It takes 10mins to take off the Cooper, and imaging it's about the same on the S!

I'll have to give the insurance company a ring to see how much it would be different if I add one of those!! Did it affect your insurance Jones? (did u tell them? )

I use autosol on all my chrome bits on the cooper, so that should do the trick on the shielding!?

There is a downside to having an induction kit fitted tho.... it sounds so damned nice, you always have your foot down, and fuel economy suffers badly!!! Did a trip in the cooper the other day, 50miles, motorway and dual carriage way with roundabouts and then some A and B roads.... 26mpg!!! Dread to think what that'd be once I get the S!!??
