Offline | well, i'm replying to my own post in hopes that my experience will help somebody! so, looking at the mini emblem on the bonnet, i found out that there are two prongs that hold it in place. you can barely see them from under the bonnet. i then tried to push the prongs upwards in hopes that the emblem would lift up. warning: DO NOT DO THIS! i ended up snapping one of the prongs as it is made of cheap plastic. what i didn't realize is that the prongs are just there to locate the emblem, it is really stuck to the bonnet with double sided adhesive tape! so, in order to loosen up the emblem, use dental floss and carefully saw the wings off the hood. then, with a plastic spatula, you can pull the emblem off the hood. just be patient, as the tape is pretty strong! ![]() |

Offline | Were you able to put it back on OK? Please post pics of your results, as I am interested also in "down the center" racing stripes... Thanks... ![]() Look at that little S car go! [Sold 2/06] |

Offline | hi amrov, i haven't put the emblem back on because i didn't have double sided adhesive tape! but i don't think putting it back would be too much of a problem. taking it off was a big hassle as it is really glued tight to the bonnet. i had to use a LOT of dental floss (it kept snapping), and a lot of patience. make sure the floss goes under as much of the emblem as it possibly can. here are some pics of the finished product. when i have time, i will post my experience in putting these bonnet stripes on, as it was NOT easy, mostly because of the thickness of the stripes, and the curves on the bonnet. the cool thing about it all, is that all my friends doubted me at first ("why the hell are you ruining a perfectly good car with ugly stripes??"), but when they saw the finished product, they were all in awe at its beauty! ![]() ![]() here, you can barely make out the 3 holes that "locate" the emblem. i just need to get double sided adhesive tape, cut holes on the stripes and paste it back on. ![]() |

Offline | Wow, great job! Yes, please post more. Where did you get the stripes? I'm trying to find a local "professional" to do mine, b/c I'm a bit nervous about doing it myself, but maybe I could attempt it... I really like these stripes: Just a mock-up of what my PW MCS "may" look like after I'm done. Found a photo of a DS MCS with these stripes... love 'em! ![]() Look at that little S car go! Offline | for those of you that are going to be taking the emblems or cooper badges off, you should apply some heat to the badge to "loosen" the adhesive (hair dryer or heat gun), and use the floss/fishing line saw off the body process to remove the badging, once you have removed the badging, you can use a de-natured alcohol, goo-gone or windex and some elbow grease to remove the sticky stuff. Once you'ce taken off the adhesive, make sure to go back and apply a coat of wax on the area you've just been working on. You have removed the coat of wax in the process or removing these things, so go back and add wax to protect the clear coat. DS/DS MCS |

Offline | You really did a great job on the stripes. A hint, however. Do not use regular double sided tape (even those made by 3M). 3M makes special double sided tape just for automotive applications which is used to attach trim and mouldings. It has a red protective backing and is available at nearly every auto parts store. It's pretty inexpensive too. |

Offline | Your stripes look good; I'd probably just leave the hood badge off. Have you thought about running the stripes over the cowl piece to the base of the windshield? '04 MINI Cooper S Indi Blue/Black |
