| Bad Dog, Moderator | Vanity Plates Anyone? I'm sure this has been covered before but I just ordered plates (tags) for my MINI. It will henceforth be known as M1N1 ME. "MINI ME" was already taken in New York (lucky bugger). If anyone else wants to get a NY vanity plate PM me, I have another that came in second place to this one that is funny and available. Unlike our cousins across the pond who pay big bucks (ponderous pounds?) for special plates, total cost was $37.50. Now if I just had my "S" to put them on... ![]() Chili Red / Black Roof Cooper "S", delivered Aug 5, 2002. If you have read this far you are obsessed - Make a donation to MINI2 and become a sponsor! These are old threads: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...&threadid=3039 and http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...&threadid=3930 Funny to see how far you have to stretch the imagination to get anything meaningful out of the UK plates. And we even get the S before them! ![]() Missing my buddies Dan and Ed but glad I have two angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs |

| Bad Dog, Moderator | "GO MINI" is currently available in NY, in case any New Yorkers want to be your twin. To check availability got to: https://www.dmv.state.ny.us/inettran...hooseplate&WCU (this link only works during business hours in NY) It's a fun site to see what you can get away with. For more about Vanity plates see: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/blueplate/blueplate.html Good for a laugh to see what is an "Offensive" plate. Chili Red / Black Roof Cooper "S", delivered Aug 5, 2002. Offline | Got "MINIME" 2 months ago in NC - multiple variations are probably still available. Unfortunatly, it looks a tad silly on a Honda Civic but when the Mini FINALLY comes it will be just right, if you know what my surname is! |

| heterochromic & loving it | It would be nice if Vermont had things all set up the way the NY DMV does (see the link above). No online database for us. On the Vermont reg form for vanity plates, you list your top three choices in order (as well as an explanation of what each means), then you they screen them to check if the plate is already issued or if the suggestions have any offensive/confusing content, then they give you the highest of you choices which passed the tests. If you register in person at the DMV, they will at least tell you if any of your choices are already issued (although they can't guarantee that the people who make such decisions will give your suggestion a clean bill of health). But if you have the dealer submit the forms (typical for a new car registration), you don't have any indication of which one you might get until the plate arrives. So three weeks or so from now, I'll find out what my vanity plate is... -Ricardo |
