Offline | Is it difficult to fit a shark fin? Hi everyone, I'd like to fit a shark fin antenna instead of the original one. Yes I know that it will not work as a FM aerial, but i always use cd audio and I never listen to the radio so it doesn't matter to me that much! I wan't it only because it's pretty! I told the dealer if it possible to fit it by myself and he aswer that it's VERY VERY VERY DIFFICULT, QUITE IMPOSSIBLE! I don't want to spend to much money and make it fit by the dealer... but I don't want to buy the antenna and not be able to fit by myselft!!!! Someone did it all alone? It was difficult as the dealer said? Someone want to explain and make a "little how to" for me? Thanks a lot ;-) |

Offline | Hi, thanks for reply... I like your shark fin, I'd like to have one on my roof very soon! I suppose you bought your car with the antenna fitted... i'd like to have some suggestion about someone who fit the "shark" all alone... My dealer said that in order to fit it i'll need to make an additional hole on my roof... according to him it's not simple to change to original one, then he said also that i have to remove the interior ceiling.... I just wanna know if that's true or not.... Hi |

Offline | I'm thinking of trying to replace my antenna with an XM one, someone suggested the New Beetle one so I'll look into that. Can someone tell me in English how to change it and if it's too hard. =) I have a 2004 Cooper with the sunroofs. |

| MINI2 Global Moderator | The shark fin fits in the original hole from the standard FM aerial. Simply lift off the cover from the outside of the car, unbolt it and push it through into the headlining. To fit the shark fin, place it on the roof and bolt it up from the inside. Not a difficult job, 10 minutes maximum! ![]() the MINI has gone... |
