Bonnet stripes and White wheels?

Anyone know or heard of any long term problems with putting on bonnet stripes? I wonder if eventually they will get old, crack off, or peel off leaving exposed the paint underneath which will by then be a different shade than the rest of the body paint.

Also, any one have white wheels? Do they show dirt and dust easier than silver wheels?

I got my new mini on Friday and i have both bonnet stripes and white wheels - looks very nice. (see gallery)

But i have to say that i have already had to wash my wheels because they were black after the first day - maybe this is just because the brakes are new and there is a bit of extra dust around, but.....

Bonnet stripes just look the best though.

White wheels only look dirty/dirtier up close. When you're moving, they look ace-o-matic!

It depends how anal you are really. They will carry brake dust all the time and sometimes grey trickling/splashes if the road was wet before you parked up. So you can either clean your wheels every journey, or you can just ignore it because it doesn't matter

I've not read of any reported problems at all with bonnet stripes ageing.

well i think it really depends on where u're getting the Stuff from

i mean stickers u can get them at a few places
but i'm thinking CooperFlags

they might cost a little bit more but the 3M Scotchguard are worth the money IMO.

but u can go for the imitations they might be Good if u take care of them properly

regards,
Eric

I've got both white wheels and bonnet stripes. The white wheels absolutely do show more dirt and brake dust than silver (I have a set of silver wheels on now). But they just look so good and cleaning the 5 spokes is pretty easy, so IMO they are worth the trouble. Just wipe off the dust with a dry cloth works fine for me. Done about once a week, you will be fine! I have only had my MINI since September 03, so I can't say much about how the bonnet stripes age. Mine are fine. I just wax them along with the rest of the car twice a year.

I have white wheels. Love them. They get dusty. I wash them a lot.

I also have a white racing stripe and a white roof decal to make my sunroof look like a white roof. Both from Cooperflags done several months after I bought her.

I haven't heard anything about the life of the stripes, but I expect from the little bit of wear I am seeing on the roof decal that I will have to replace them within five years. That sounds about right.

The cost was not so much that I would have a problem only getting five years of life.
