| MINI2 Master BLASTER!!!!! | Anyone here just painted their arches Gloss Black? Basically I would like to know whether anyone with an Aero Kit has painted just their arches black. I've seen a couple of Mini's in the galleries with either body matching arches or arches painted black with the sideskirts to match. If possible, could fellow members post pic of Aero kit Mini's that have only the arches painted black. Preferably an IB\B M.C.S but I'm thinking thats unlikely. Thanks |

Offline | Check out Bonnie Scotland's gallery. He has a DS/B MCS with Aero skirts and arches painted gloss black...Looks schweet! I'm thinking of doing the very same thing to my DS/DS MCS. There is a company in Norfolk called Autofashion that seem to specialize in painting plastics. They offer painted trim parts for the MINI on an exchange basis. They offer all of the Mini standard colours. Their web page says £600 to paint all of the black trim pieces, which seems pretty steep to me. If you check out their site, they explain the long preparation and painting process that they go through. I have no doubt that the finish will be top quality. They also have a very heavily body-kitted Mini on their site, which isn't to my taste, but gives you a flavour of the work that they can do. Here's a link to their web page: Autofashion I'm seriously thinking of contacting them to do the paint work on my car, but I would be looking to improve on the price they are stating on their web page...A group buy opportunity? Hope this helps you out. Richard |

| MINI2 Regular | Arches? Can you please explain? I have a CR/B MCS with an Aero Kit and the edges are painted black. If this is what you are referring to I can post some pics later. Just send me a message...... I don't have time this weekend to post pics as we have been doing road rallys here in WA all weekend.... 2004 MCS CR/B |

Offline | Hi Army Dog, Thanks for your offer of pics. I'll clarify what we are discussing. All Mini's come with black plastic mouldings that are fitted around the lower edges of the car body. This includes the bottom of the bumpers, along the side sills, and around the lips of the wheel arches. As standard these areas are a textured black plastic that gives semi-gloss finish. With the Aero Kit, the original wheel arch trims are retained, and the lower edges of the bumpers and side sills are painted with a textured black paint finish to match them. What we're looking at, is flattening the textured finish on the original plastic parts, then using fairly advanced plastic paints, paint them to give a high gloss plastic finish. People have done both this, and also colour coded their plastics to their car body colour. Good luck with your rallies. Richard |

| MINI2 Regular | Richard...thanks for clarification. What you are describing does not sound like too difficult of a job through a reputable paint and body shop. If you get it done some pics of the job would be cool....and thanks for another idea for "mods" for my MCS...... 2004 MCS CR/B |

| #1647 of 1960 | yeah well, about all I can do is go yank the parts from him... then I've gotta find another custom paint shop in SE Virginia to do it.. most custom shops have long waiting lists anyway, least the good ones do... meanwhile I'm ready to order a JCW MCS as soon as the facelift is available (in July?).. so maybe I should hold onto them and switch out the replaced parts and put them on my next 1.. it will work out for the best I'm confident!!hmmmm.. Hyper Blue MCS with dark silver gloss painted arches & trim? with dark silver bonnet stripes.. or a dark silver viper stripe? |
