DIY Bunmper mesh replacement, from black plastic to stainless steel. Thanks Ratty!

Just replaced the mesh in the bumpers on my S works (BIG THANK YOU TO RATTY FOR LENDING ME HIS TOOLS, HELP AND FORECOURT )

Looks great and was a fairly simple job. A word of advice though. Getting the rear bumper of means you have to unclip the last third of the black skirt from the bumper itself as it literally holds it on. The only reason i'm mentioning this is because its not too clear in any of the guides we found, and caused us a bit of stress when we couldnt work it out!

Heres a quick look...

Let us know if it changes the way dirt piles up on the back of the car.
Looks nice BTW.

Ta, hadnt thought of that. The only thing i'm not sure about is the heat shield at the back. Heard someone had painted theirs black but ill give it a while and see what it looks like when its dulled down.

Wondering how fun it'll be to clean now

OOh i like the front. Ive been thinking about putting the chrome on the lower front grill for ages, as i have the chrome pack like you. Not sure about the back yet, would like to see a clearer picture realy.

By the way, watch your alloys on those kerbs!

Looks very nice! I hate anything fake, and the original rear grilles are just so artificial.

I'll take a better picture tonight if the lights better. As for the kerbs, its too late. In our neighourhood you learn quickly to make a decision, scratches rims or busted wing mirror and scuffed doors!

Hmm, thats nice. Our cooper had one when i bought it, and as its the same colour as the S Works i always hated the black plastic.

Looks good.

I hated the black plastic too, so I just had it painted white

To Hobzy,
I did the same on the rear bumbers but i also mounted the original plastic behind the new one.
So if ya look at it its chrome on a black behind. Dirt cant pill up and there is no more "see through"

Will post piccies soon. (i am now prpairing myself for the MTM adventure in Irland this week.

To clear up the talc thing, i had a problem with my intercooler cover getting marked by the foam on the intake. Ratty suggested talc on the faom and it seems to be working so far. Of course it went everywhere else too but a quick blast down the lanes got rid of most of it.

It was funnier when u didnt know though...
