Offline | Had a small car park ding that damaged the rear chrome bumper insert. Luckily bumper is not damaged. Anyone have any instructions for fitting rear bumper inserts? I have purchased the insert from the dealer but can't see how it is fitted. Looking at the part it looks like there are 2 bolts and the rest just clips in. How do you get to the bolts, from under the car or from behind the boot trim? I don't want to start take anything apart untill I know what I am doing. |

Offline | Bumper insert fitting yes I did manage to do it. The inserts are not held in with any bolts just clips. You don't need to get into the back of the bumper. Get something flat under the insert and lever them out. You will probably damge the insert (I did) but in my case it was replacement for damage so that was not a problem. It is quite tricky to lever them out without damaging the bumper, but possible if your careful. From the factory the inserts have a small amount of glue holding them in which makes it even harder. I did not apply glue them and it is fine. |

Offline | I don't know what BetaLINK aDHESIVE is, but it is possible to cut the tabs off the chrome inserts and fit them to the bumper with an adhesive. I did that to a One i had many years ago. |

Offline | Betalink is BMW glue I believe it's used to stick spoilers on so I figure it should work for rear chrome insert. Only problem is that in the Betalink spec. it requires a surface temperature of 18 degrees C! any suggestions? ![]() |

Offline | Erm, sorry, I don't, other than get someone else to fit them! I had mine done by a finisher who fitted spoilers and the likes for a BMW dealer, so it may have been that that they used, to fit them. They were stuck on fast, even after someone played tig with the front bumper. |
