United-States Anyone bought xenon driving lights yet?

I was looking at alternatives to the factory driving lights and found that Hella makes a kit specifically for the MINI. After further browsing, I learned that Hella makes that same series of lights in a version with xenon bulbs! (Real xenons with ballast units, not those poser blue bulbs...)

SInce 1985, I have always used upgraded headlights in all of my cars. '89 Camaro had Hella headlights and driving lamps, 94 Impala SS has european spec lamps that use H4 bulb (80/100) and too many to list that I have retrofitted with 7" round lights that use H4 bulbs.

Anyway, back to the point...

Has anyone bought these xenon driving lamps? Any ideas on their effectiveness? I live in a rural mountainous area and I want maximum performance from my lights. I don't use them in town or "just for looks", so please don't bash me for wanting "non-DOT" lamps.

I welcome your comments/suggestions!

Best wishes,

Rawhyde

one of the issues you may have is the extra weight, I know with the standard driving lights and xenon headlights the dealer is supposed to fit uprated gas dampers to make sure the bonnet doesn't come down under the extra weight.

Been thinking of doing the same thing but the cost of the lights and were do you mount the ballast units that is stopping me. As for the weight, you could use a spot light bar like a few companys are selling for the 4 driving lights set up.

Unhappy

I did fit aftermarket bulbs, Phillips something or others, (not blue light emitting) they were rated the most effective in independent tests, they raved about them actually, but made no difference at all, my lights are still crap!!
