Hi my other post didn't deem any fruitful results so trying out a different approach.

I'm look to find out if any Aero Kitted MINI owners have painted their arches black.

EXAMPLE: I know many have been colour coded, but I am yet to see a MINI with just the arches paint black.

I've seen 2 MCSs but they have a black side skirt, I looking to keep my side skirt body coloured, but just want the arches painted black.

I hope you know what I am trying to say.

Ive never ever seen it done though in all my travels.

It definitely would be different, it would be more in tone with the std design on the MINI, but personally I think it will only suit the darker cars eg DS, BRG and IB, it may or may not unless we see evidence suit the lighter coloured MINIs around.

Check out the latest issue of GoMini magazine, ther is a silver black roofed cooper S in ther with painted black aero kit skirts an arches, the owner has had the side skirts done black too. It looks gr8 in my opinion!

He means giving the arches an actual paint finish as tho they are like the bodywork and can be waxed etc. Normally done aftermarket. The arches on the aerokit are like a plastic material, painting them black would require sanding and primering and thn i respray id imagine!

I'm just looking for the arches being painted black, not matching side skirts. Just the arches and nothing else, My Aero Kit will be body colours but I'll quite like to see where the arches are just paint, and no black side skirts, just body coloured.

You know what I mean?

On the standard bumpers the black plastic are seperate pieces to the body coloured section, and they can be removed.

On the Aero bumpers, the bumper is all one piece (not including grills), and the bits that look like Plastic, are literally just painted with a special paint to match the archs and "look" plastic.

So if you get "primered only" Aero kit, the whole bumper is white, it is in fact easier to colour code the bodywork, as you don't have to mask the bumper off to "create" the plastic look.

I imagine the same masking process to create the Plastic effect, can be used to actually paint them properly.

You guys mentioned GoMini magazine. It looks like a really cool mag for minis, but it is £35 which is just over $60 for us in the US. I was just wondering if somebody could just send over the monthly issues for me. Since this would only be £15 and only be $26 here. You could keep $10 and I'll still be ahead, even if you kept $20 it would be better then spending the £35. Well just a thought. Comment as you wish.

The new Aero kit comes body coloured straight from the dealer, you don't have to do any painting.

I'm after gloss black arches (as a possiblity)

My bad, didn't mean to say new, but you can get them at your dealer in the colour you want. A whole set cost £900 then a lil bit more for fitting.

Sorry for not responding sooner. I keep forgeting to check my email and this site. The magazine is £35 a year. A month would be insane, but its still a little crazy for a year subscription to a magazine.

I agree...the glossy black is simply amazing. The arches would then match the black of the windows much better then the textured black of the stock arches.

Glad that i could help...but dont forget pictures once the kit is installed

BMW MINI should have had Glossy arches from the start, it looks soooooo good, and I agree with Rally it how it matches the black on the windows. I think I might paint my arches black too!
