Offline | Any problems with paint/finish on new mini's We ordered our 04-S fron Mini of The Hamptons in NY and paid extra to have it shipped "inclosed carrier". It arived in Northern California on an open flat bed truck!! It was filthy and had a few small scratches and stains in the bonnet stripes. Mini said get it detailed and we will pay you back for the work. I just got back from the detailer for a quote and he said the entire car has already been buffed and polished. He then showed me how in the right light you can see "swirl marks" over the entire car and it shows up real bad on the black roof (B. R. green car). Has anyone else had this problem on a brand new car or are we just the lucky ones! Kevin |

Offline | Paint The paint on the coopers seems to be soft, you have to be extra careful with how you care for the body. Swirl marks are inevitable, but just be careful in your wash methods. cheers, jason |

Offline | mine had swirl marks when I picked it up. I took it back, complained and they fixed. Guess they are not as careful as they should be. The paint does seem to be very soft though. I get small scrathces and I'm as careful as i have even been with a car. The stripes can be easily replaced, rather than trying to fix them. Good luck- Digi-Tec MCS Gone Life without a supercharger is boring |

Offline | The worst thing is the stone chips, I think the paint is one of the main failings of the mini. I accepted that as part of the styling the front end is quite blunt. But this only means that BMW should have put extra effort in finding a suitably tough paint! |
