| MINI2 Regular | I'm looking for the spotlights.PDF file referenced in other threads for DIY driving light install. It seems to be gone. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of it? Thanks... '03 LY/B MCS |

Offline | Dependent on where you buy the kit, the file jwardell linked to may or may not work. I've come to think of them as a US version (this is the one in the abve PDF) and a euro version. The difference in the 2 kits offered is basically which pin of the BC1 connector you have to use and whether or not you have a power line going into the radio. Also, the euro kit has to be activated by the dealer where the US one doesn't. If you need it, I have the other PDF file (for the euro style) that I can email to you. -- '03 S B/W |

Offline | PM Mr Mullet, I'm sure he can help you out on this one...... BMW asked him to pull the OEM guides as they infringe BMW copyright.........BTW the motoring file guide is specific for the US market......you need the European guide to fit them correctly. As the US ones are switched separately, and as moorlockx says the euro ones are switched through the BC1 and a relay. Also, the guide is for the MC not the MCS, as the shut-off valve referred to for mounting the fuse holder bracket does not exist. I drilled two extra holes in the "plastic bulkhead" adjacent to where the thick power feed goes into the fuse box, and cable tied the fuse holder in place horizontally. This secures it a treat and you can still access the fuse if need be. I'm sure I can take some pics if required. MINI reckon on 2.25 hours....mine took 3, including measuring and checking everything 2 or 3 times, that's the engineer in me......sorry. Activation costs vary......see my thread on shopping around...... http://www.mini2.com/forum/exterior/59763-oem-spotlights-time-vent.html Anything else PM me......I'm sure I can help...... Cheers, Robert |

Offline | Yes you will, but only a handheld one, not a pneumatic one. The worst bit of the installation is the drilling of the grille and inner skin of the bonnet (hood). Take your time, measure, remeasure, then drill and you can't go wrong. Make sure you centrepunch the hole positions or the drill will wander. I agree it's a quality installation..........but not beyond a DIY, provided you follow the instructions. If you have any queries frop me a PM and I'll try to help out...??? Robert |

Offline | It's a bit more time consuming but you can use machine screws, nuts, and lock washers instead of the pop-rivets. I found this to be a more satisfying solution as I feel the vibration from the lights could loosen the rivets over time. -- '03 S B/W |
