Factory Driving Lamp Screw-up?

I've got the factory driving lamps installed on my '03 MINI with the Aero Kit.

I've always been bothered by the way the lamps shake with the vibration of driving on even moderately uneven roads. I visited a MINI dealership in Arizona recently, and noticed that the factory driving lamps there had supports behind them which are attached to the grill and push against the backs of the lights. I asked if this was an extra install, and the salesman told me "No, it's supposed to be part of any OEM driving light install." I checked the installation instructions on motoringfile.com, and sure enough vehicles with the sports package are supposed to have this additional support (presumably because of the stiffer suspension?) My lamps do not have these supports.

Do you think I should be able to take this issue to my dealer and have them install the supports free of charge? (They may not make much difference, but I'd like to see if they do). Is it even possible with the Aero Kit grill?

Thanks for your help.

Anyone got any pics of these supports as I think I`ve got vibration problems on my 15 day old MCS, & I`d like some more Ammo & Verifiaction for when I take it back to the dealers next week

Id like to know how you went too, MINI-stir.

Ive noticed the vibration quite a bit myself - would be keen to see a result.

I bought 2 OEM light brackets from Godfrey Hall Shrewsbury (£25 pair) 2 weeks ago and they came with 3 rivets and an additional stabilising threaded rod ( inc captive nuts ) for each

If I can find them I will post a pic up - they are basically a narrow threaded bar with a cross head on one end ( points into engine bay ) and they are wound into a captive nut ( which you have drilled the hole out for and then installed this captive nut using captive nut pliers say the instructions - I don't have any captive nut installation pliers so didn't fit 'em )

The end that sticks out and comes into contact with the back of the lamp has a black plastic flexible cover to go over the thread .

I bought my own lamps as the consensus of opinion here was that BMW were overpriced and not that good.

Do you still have to pay BMW to get them Activated on the Computer, or are you going to wire them up to a seperate switch ??

BTW, your only a couple of miles away from me as I`m near Newport

I wired them up myself - scotchclipped into high beam lights under soundproofing in bonnet to operate a relay etc.

I'll keep an eye out for you next time I'm going to Road & Dirt !

If I manage to find the stabiliser rods I could even bring em round !!
