Cuprar, the new 05 MCS has a different lighting system, the reverse lights are intergrated into the main clusts, and now the fog is down in the middle of the bumper instead of the reversing.

Heres a pic, I think it looks nice, but you won't be able to fit them, unless you wanna change the wiring and stuff, which may end up being a bita of a mother!

I'd just wait until BMW decide to bring out a compatible 05 cluster.

Speak to, or e-mail, 'mikeythemini'. I thinks he's looking into modifying the wiring of '05 cars to take the older style lights as we speak! (or type).

I've also noted rumours/speculation on this forum that Mini could be bringing out new clear lights for the '05 cars but I'm not sure how reliable this is. Ask you dealer if he can confirm this.

I've said this a few times...

...if you go for the clear lights on the new MINI, all you need to do is change the central Fog light, to white and have a red bulb. And change the fog lights to clear bulbs on the old lights. That way what were fogs on the old lights would become reversing lights.

I know man, and I know you have em!

Alan, I'm presuming MINI will bring white light clusters out, as it would be impractical if they didn't, they would be losing out on potential sales.

I can't guarantee that they will, just reckon it would make sense, hence I'll be patiently waiting to see if something is brought out, otherwise I'll just stick withe std clusters whic I think look very nice after witnessing them at the NEC show, and also think they look sweet on black, as seen on the black MCS Convertable.

Right the lights at the mo have silver tec bulbs.

All you do is change the silvertec Fog light bulbs to Silvertec white light bulbs or just plain clear bulbs. So when put in reverse they light white rather than the original red.

And the middle fog light (that used is the reverse light on older models). Change the plastic for a clear one, and change the bulb which is no doubt clear behind the red plastic, to a Red Bulb, or silvertec Fog light bulb, that way it stays red.

I'm educated guessing there'll be UK lighting rules regarding the fog lamp that would be broken there... Anyone?

Yes there is a law, but theres an easy way round it, you just attch some red refectors on the the mesh in the bumper, there job done.

No, I mean law on the fog lamp specification, not the reflector requirement.

Can't see why its a problem, just so long as the bulb used for the Fog light is the same brightness as what the fog lights are on the present sent up for the clear lights. If that requirments met then there isn't an issue. As the bulb is just a standard bulb the Silvertecs from the clear lights should fit the new position just the same.

Black Cooper

On a black car it's got to be white lights. It's the only way!
