Fitting a Cooper S front bumper to a Cooper!

I managed to get a Cooper S front bumper on ebay (in the right colour!) for £15.

The question now is, has anyone on here got any tips?

Is it a fairly straight forward swap, i.e. do the light fittings match up, will I need any extra clips?

Might attempt this at the weekend if the weather is fine!

Cheers

U have to move them to a new place. Its all marked up, when u take the bumper off you`ll see. You might have to drill the holes out tho....

I did it

It took a good hour to fit but the bumper is now fitted, I'm very please with the new look, much more bulky at the front.

Just need to fit my chrome surrounds for the indicators and attempt to mod the foglight surrounds

Cheers to zoooooom for the last minute help

Looks good monsta. I must get round to doing that... hope I can pick one up for £15! Are you going to get a red S grill for the bonnet section or replace the red strip on the new bumper?

It's already got a chrome S grill on there, much prefer that to the body colour, especially on the red for some reason!

Need to replace the body coloured bottom section, couldn't be bothered today!!

I prefer the body coloured look at the moment.... so much so that I ordered a set of black grilles from minty to replace the crome ones I did a year back when I first bought my ONE. Unfortunately I made such a good job of sticking on the bottom chrome strip that it just wouldn't budge
I'm now waiting for a black S bumper to turn up with a black strip in place. Then I will try to buy an S grille in solid black for the bonnet. Do you know if the S upper grill will be colour coded or just black plastic like the original ONE grille? Also will dealers sell me an S grille?

Your car looks the biz tho' monsta... I'll keep an eye out for it when I'm in Brighton

When replacing the lower grille section, how did you stick it place? What did you use?

I think the Black S grills are actually painted body colour rather than being black plastic like the ONE.

I'll probably order a strip for the bottom section rather than putting my old one on there, it's looking a little aged!

Hi Paul,

I just used the double sided strip that runs the length of the lower section (comes already applied by the dealer). When I took the old black strip off I made an effort to remove every last piece of the old sticky strip so that I got the best possible bond with the new one.

Problem now is that I can't remove it to put on a colour coded grille. I pulled so hard on the chrome strip that I started to break the bumper underneath

(and I tried the hairdrier trick too...)

This looks great monsta! I've done exactly the same to my black mini one! It looks great more meaner!

Onemini, I have black mini with the cooper s bumpers front and back, check out my gallery, since these pics (I have to take more) I have put the black cooper s grille on my baby, also put a cooper s fuel cap on. I think I'll wash my car today and take some pics. Looks great. Don't regret putting the bumpers on. Hard work though did it myself.

Monsta,

did you have any problems with the dark grey trim when fitting this? I remember reading a thread by mini cruiser about her S bumper and she had a gap between the plastic wheel arch and the plastic of the new bumper..... a gap because they weren't totally compatible?

I think she put the wide arch kit on her MINI which is why there were problems, the two didn't come flush.

I think that was in the rear anyway....
