Offline | Chrome Exterior Hi guys, I own a Mini One Salt, without the chrome exterior. I was wondering if its a difficult job to fit the chrome? I was told at the time of purchase that its something that has to be done at the time of manufacture - but I thought there may be a possibility that this was just pushy sales-speak...?? I couldn't afford it at the time, so it didn't happen. So, is it possible? Is it an expensive job? Will a standard mini dealer do the job, or will I need to find a specialist mod company? Thanks Grom. ![]() |

Offline | Hi! we got a mini one and didn't get the chrome for the same reason as u! Since we got it we have put the chrome boot handle on... can't remember how much this cost... but we got it from a BMW dealership and fitted it ourselves.... it was really easy to do! More recently we have fitted the chrome grill and the slat just below the grill... this cost £75 altogether. Again this was from a BMW dealership and again, we fitted it ourselves (as to get the BMW people to fit it they wanted to charge us something like £70 (!!!!).... but this was much harder to fit... or should i say fiddley to fit... the seperate slat was easy enough as its stuck on with double sided sticky tape and a couple of clips (no joke!... so u just pull the old one of and stick the new one on!)... however, the grill is quite difficult to get off as its held on with some really cr@p washer things... but if it saves u £70 then i'd recommend that u have a go at doing it yourself!! hope this helps??!! .... oh and next on our list are the chrome bumper inserts... hopefully they shouldn't be too difficult to do (fingers crossed!!!) |

Offline | thanks for the advice! I wouldn't know where to start, but I think I'm going to spend a while closely examining how everything is fitted! Its great news though to know that it IS possible. As for the bumper inserts...this I really am intregued by...from a first glance, I couldn't see any way of doing it....but I am a bit of a mechanical nightmare Let me know how you get on! |
