Mini Driving Lights (Spots) What is your dealer charging you for these.???

Went to sign my paper work off for our MINI this afternoon and I wanted to add the driving lights to the order, but the price including fitting was a whooping £405.00 now that gets me thinking are they really worth it....mmmmm....I wonder.

However they would sell me the lights for £145.00 to fit myself, but I would still have to take it back to the dealer to have them set up which is 1&1/2 Hrs labour at £90 pound an hour.

So out of interest what is your dealer charging you for yours.???

I think they're taking you for a mug there telling you it's 1.5 hours work. From what I've understood, it's about 0.5 hours maximum, and just involves switching them on in the software. I could be wrong of course!

I order an MCS yesterday and asked my dealer about adding them. They would charge about £345 for parts plus fitting.

One of the reasons for the high charge, according to the sales advisor, is that they have to pay BMW a fee for using the system, each and every time it is used. I think he said it was about £75 for this. It inolves updating the BC2 software.

There are some dealer fit options which require the software to be updated remotely, from BMW Munich, the spots being one of them.

Hey Dinger,

My girlfriend had her spots fitted up at Broad Oak in Canterbury (not toooo far from you) and got charged about £330 - £350, can't remember exactly how much..!!

Might be worth trying them for a quote..?

I bought a set of brand new OEM lights off ebay. Took 3 hrs to fit, including double-checking everything at least once.

The recoding of the BC1 takes 15mins and cost me 32.90GBP. This ontop of the 107GBP I paid for the lamp kit = 140.00 GBP all in........and yes they are the genuine lights.

Had a bit of a problem with getting a decent price for coding.....see this link for details.....

Try shopping around you'll find a big difference in the price......

Looks like I netted myself a bargain.......

Really??.... I was thinking that although it was worth £235 to me, that it would only set them back the cost price since they are a dealer fit item... which i'm sure is a good bit less...

Go back and start demanding!!!
