Offline | Window Tinting I was wondering if window tinting that ISN'T done by the dealer voids your warrantee? Because I looked around and it cost about 500 for that to be done by dealer and a whole lot less if it is done somewhere else w/ a lifetime guarantee too. |

Offline | For the US: According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975, third-party modifications or components “cannot” void a written warranty. Only if a dealer can “prove” that a third-party component is the cause of a particular problem, can they deny service. If a dealer denies service without sufficient proof of the problem’s cause, the consumer can then contact the Federal Trade Commission for a dispute. The consumer also reserves the right to file a lawsuit for breach of warranty. and I don't think winndow tint can cause any problems. Dunno about the UK He's here: IB/W CVT, MFSW, sport seats, rally lights, AUX input, and on-board comp. Arrived March 19, adopted on the 26th. |

Offline | I looked aroudn the forums and it I find mixed answers about the driver/passenger side windows. I see some people say it is illegal in California for ANY tint in the driver / passenger side windows. Some people say the law is 88% tint I haven't been quoted since I don't have the car yet but reading around I see anywhere from $100-300. US EDIT: do you guys think it would be weird if all the windows were tinted except the back window? (and front windshield of course) because I wouldn't feel safe about having someone mess aroudn with the real defrosters and visabitiy issues. |

Offline | Advice on Tints Hey there, I am not sure as to what the laws are where you are, i am from New York. If you go to this website and click on where it says explain laws, you can choose where you live, and if you click on Auto Tinting online demo, you can get examples of every percent and combination plus it will tell you where its legal. http://www.autowindowtinting.com///tintDemo.ihtml Personally I have had a lot of experience with window tinting on all of my vehicles. In fact i have had it done on all of them. In new york tinting realy isn't legal, however i have it done at 20%, which is almost black. I just recieved my MINI 2 weeks ago, BRG, and i had the tints done at the dealer, because I saw some of his work, and he did a fantastic job. The art of window tinting is hard to master, but this gentlemen did a great job, i would suggest asking to see someof the tinters work at your dealer, and look how its done. Loof for bubbles especially around the tops of the windows, and look to see how far the edges go up to the top of the window and the bottom, A good tinter will almost go right to the edges in all direstcions, so you can even tell there is a film on the window. If they seem good, i would spend the money and have it done at the dealer, for 2 reasons. Its all covered, and they do while your car is being prepped, so there is no extra wait anywhere else. i will try and post some pics of mine to show you what mine look like. Hope any of this helps. Ciao |
