Grill colo(u)r

Am I correct in assuming that the grill on the Cooper is chrome, and on the Cooper S body coloured? This seems a bit arse about if true.

As far as I know that's true, not sure if chrome is an option though...

I'm pretty certain that you could fit the Cooper grill to the S just like people have done on the MINI One.

the MINI has gone...

I don't think they have the same shape...

I could be wrong though.

I think the Cooper grille and front end in general is much more attractive with all the chrome.....then the S is going for the sporty / dechromed / body colour look typical of high end BMWs......

You could always have the mesh grille

The grill on every car I have seen has been chrome. Except if it has the aero kit on it. Maybe this isn't a U.S. problem though...

MINIjewel, you mean even the S's you've seen had the chrome grill? I have yet to see one with the chrome front. Do you have any pictures?

Actually I tend to agree with a few of the other people here, the body coloured grill is kinda neat. Body coloured grill was an extra cost option with my previous car.

Just to chime in.

My understanding is the Cooper & Cooper S Grilles are not interchangable. Different profile (more upright) & shape.

Nothing stopping you stripping and chroming the Cooper S one though.

I've ordered a Yellow 'S', but I will not be driving aroiund with a yellow grille. I'll be getting the chrome surround painted yellow and have a black mesh grille.

The colour matching grille is really silly. Even chrome would be better.

Actually, the one S we have had did have the body colored grill. Although when I was in San Francisco, they all had Chrome.

I would rather have the black MINI Cooper...as Damo was saying! However...perhaps with the Cooper S engine

Eltel, please let us know if you have any luck fitting a black mesh grille there as I have plans to do the same.

This is a pic of a Cooper with aerokit fitted, and the mesh grille with color frame looks great. I want an identical grille on the S:
