Offline | Dual Tail lights with Fog lights?? Hi guys. I was wondering has anyone done the Dual Brake light conversion (Popular with US spec cars that dont have rear fog lights) but retain the working Rear Fog lights (lamps). I had the Dual Brake lights. but then had the rear fog light retro fitted so i can have all the switches on the dash. Which meant going back to a single brake light. Been working on a conversion to allow me to have both the rear fog light and dual brake lights at the same time and was wondering if anyone else would be interested when im done? 02 MCS DS/W (Totaled November 02 on Fall Folage Run) 03 MCS DS/W (See my MINI Profie for extensive list of mods) |

Offline | The mod shown is the common one used if you dont have Rear Fog lamps which can be turned on by the driver. Which most US spec cars dont have. What ive done is make it possible to have both the rear fog lamps and dual brakes at same time. 02 MCS DS/W (Totaled November 02 on Fall Folage Run) 03 MCS DS/W (See my MINI Profie for extensive list of mods) |

Offline | The fog lights use a single filament bulb. As such there's no way to have them lit and then get brighter as secondary stop lights when you step on the brakes. By using the diode mod, which is essentially a one-way valve, the stop lights don't come on when you turn the fogs on. The rear running lights are not affected. Using just a paperclip or wire splice, the stop lights would come on whenever you turned on the rear fogs because current would backflow to the stop light filament.
