I've noticed at my local Ohio Mini dealership that the black stripes have a ton of scatches on them. This concerns me considering there just sitting on the showroom floor. I don't think you can buff out scratches on a plastic/rubber stripe can you?

Scratches? That sounds funny. I've got white stripes, surely these would be affected just as much. I live up a dirt track road, with *loads* of little b*stard stones, waiting to hurt Guzzle and I don't have any scratches yet (touch wood). The only thing I noticed about my stripes were that when I got the car, there were a few air bubbles, some quite big in them, but these have vanished now, probably due to air pressure on the bonnet forcing the air pockets to the side and out.

If the stripes are just black printed on a white vinyl then it is likely that you will get scratch marks where the black is scratched off.

Perhaps the stripes were scratched when they were applied? Squeegeed out with the wrong tool?
