| MINI2 Regular | Electric Side Mirrors Any one have any recommendations on this? Should I get it for my new car or not? I like the coolnew.co.uk version which works of the key fob and this is really nice option but will it void any of the car warranty and how difficult is it to fit I dont like the idea of playing with electrics? I don't put my mirrors in that much and so not sure if I will use that much but I would probably put them in more if they were electric as its so much more convenient. One concern I have is that if I clip something (which I have done once in my present one which just caused them to fold in and the fact that they were chromed meant they didn't even skuff - will the electrics fold in if clipped) Also a final concern was that when I went to my dealer and asked about looking at one in action no one had ordered it and they have about 40 cars going out this September (new number plate etc) Any comments? Thanks |

Online | The reason I developed remore mirrors is.... Looks cool & When I 1st fitted them a put a switch inside (like the then japan spec cars) but this gives a problem You park at the side of the road, press switch fold mirrors, go to get out car, you can no longer check mirror to see if there is a car coming, open door, BANG. Remote mirrors, check mirror, open door, close door, press fob mirrors close ![]() |

Offline | I specced them as an factory option on my 05 Coop... and I do wish I had a keyfob option. Not only for the scenario Mikey describes, but also for when I park it, get out, lock it, turn back to look and realise, damn should've folded the mirrors back. I didn't know that Mikey did a kit at that time! I can't complain too much though, they work well, nice smooth action, speed sensitive so you can't accidentally fold them back above (I think) about 18mph. They're expensive so I'm not surprised many people haven't ordered them, but where I park underground at work in London I always had to fold them manually which does get old really quick. I'm not sure I'd ever be brave enough to drive my mini through a gap so small that I had to fold the mirrors I'd be too scared of something else scuffing.I havn't tried the 'clip' test the Spoogey describes so I'll lean on them a little today, and report back how easy they give. |

Online | Didn't know they dont work above 18mph on the factory job - No waving to other Minis on the motorway then ![]() I have the button in mine for those country lane moments. Am going to build a remote fold upgrade for the factory fitted mirrors |

Offline | Clip test - it requires a touch more force than I remember from my old Cooper to move the mirrors, but not a lot. I think the risk of additional damage due to a stiffer hinge is probably minimal. |

Offline | So they are a factory Mini option now? You wouldn't have a part number handy would you? BTW - Mikey, I emailed you a while ago about Handsfree kits and HK stereos - you didn't reply. Have you changed your email? |
