Offline | a couple of questions on clear lights/installation I was thinking about putting the clear tail lights on my 04 ds/b mcs. do they have rear fog lights, or is that feature lost? if they do have them, are they still as bright? do the reflectors stick on, or are they cut into the bumper? is the installation difficult? also, does anybody sell smoked clear taillights for the car, i think they would look really good w/ the dark silver. thanks for your help |

Offline | Yes they have Fogs lights still. Think they are atill as bright but can't say I have compared them. As for the reflectors, if you have them fitted by BMW they will be cut into the bumper, that's the way they have been told to do it. I however have got some very small red reflectors and stuck them on in a way I think looks better to the car. Mini mania (see sponcer list) do the smoked lences, but I think you can also get the film to put over your current lights. The lences are dead easy to fit. Take the inside covers out of your boot (left and right edges). Undo a single bolt that goes down the thread on the lights, and pinch the clips on either side of the lights and they pop out. The high mounted brake light is a little more tricky. If you have the S style spoiler just undo the three screws from the inside of the boot and it will come out easy, if you have the cooper style spoiler however, the spoiler has to come off first. Hope this helps. Have fun with it and post pics of the finished job. ![]() |

Offline | www.r-speed.net/mini (or some variant of that web address) has smoked lens film. It's like $30 for the pair of precut pieces. Easy to install yourself too, although a professional will make it look cleaner. I did mine myself with these. They don't darken the lights too much (when the brake lights are on), so its still safe to drive , and do a nice job darkening the lights when the brakes lights are NOT lit. I had to trim a little bit off the edges with a razor as I put them on to get them to smooth out completely. I did it on the normal lenses, not the clear, so you still see a hint of color when the sun hits them. |
