Offline | Me too. Never accept sub standard work. I have see other Viper Striped cars that have similar dodgy cut stripes, which put me off them a bit. Matty who did yours for you? Fawdington? They've done an excellent job. Global Moderator ![]() |

Online | Zyo! Sorry to hear about your problem with your stripes! I wanted silver vipers on my black mini. I told my dealer this and asked if they had any pics of others like it. They said they didn't and that it would look really cool. I go back a couple of weeks later and their new black diesel demo has silver vipers!! That annoyed me as they stole my idea but when I had a look at them I was glad I didn't get them done. The work around the pollen vents was really cr@ppy! The lines around them were really poor and a bit wobbly. Far away they looked cool but up close, awful! That put me straight off the idea of vipers and got a very professional vinyl company do customised stripes which I love. I watched my vinyl guy start to do the stripes and he did the same trick with the line of masking tape down the centre same as Tony's method. He did such a good job he even removed the pollen filters and the windscreen washer jet to put the stripes on! I wouldn't let them give you am excuse or a refund! Get it done again! Don't stand for it! Your car is really lovely by the way, sorry about your problems! Don't you miss your black one? ![]() |

Offline | nah, priory. obviously they use a contracted vinyl fitter, but who ever they use is top notch, i was throughly impressed when they did them, and still am. No butcher knife syndrome. Only quarm was, they left a tiny strand where they cut it on my spoiler. Nothing to complain about.Like i say zyo, hope everything will b ok whenever their going to be replaced/redone. It is quite sickoning when i see the job they made of yours. Only way to get stuff done right in this world is to complain (so do it), or in my old job, bugger all would get things sorted. hehe. |

Offline | There is no argument the stripes are poorly fitted, it is true that BMW viper kits are supplied just as two lines with no shapes cut out. This all has to be done by the fitter. Check that no cutting has been done on the car during fitting. |

Offline | News is that i'm much happier than i was but still not 100%.The drivers side rear bumper stripe is still wonky. The guy hadn't removed the pollen vents to fit the vinyl either, instead he's cut round it.It doesn't look too bad but unfortunately i haven't seen anything locally to compare it against. The guy at the dealers was saying that the graphic chap had spent 5 hours on it,and apparently he wasn't one to blow his own trumpet but he's one of the top car graphic guys out there and travels all over the country.cough cough cough cough.Perhaps i'm expecting too much,i did say to the chap from the dealers that if they can't guarantee that these stripes are going to be an extremely good fit then they should either not sell them or at least put a note on their website to state that the results may vary quite widely. At least the edges that have been cut are straight now.I'll post some piccies in the next day or two to see what you reckon.Cheers.Paul |

Offline | Its worse,he didn't re do them completely he just did the bits that i was ******ed off with.My problem is i have no one local to compare with. The viper stripes aren't that common, having said that there was a yellow MINI ready for pick up with vipers on when i dropped mine off this morning. The finish from a distance looked okay but on closer inspection it was crap aswell, and they still hadn't done the bit round the pollen vents on this one either even though i had informed them that it should have been on mine, and the yellow one was done after i had questioned them about mine.(mine is around the pollen vents now ,but i do mean around, they haven't put the edges under the vents just cut round them.)You know when you wish you hadn't started something..... |

Offline | Just found this picture on ebay which seems to show that the vipers do come precut. The seller has eveb put the official part number which apparently is 95210000016.So is this rubbish or is the bit about them coming in one long stripe rubbish. ![]() |

Offline | Late Arrival.... Sorry for my late arrival to this thread but i felt i had to add my 10 pence! I had nightmares with my vipers (not as bad nightmares as my dealer though!). Basically i went to see my car before it was pdi'd and took a photo on my phone to show my missus.... ...when i looked at the picture later, i realised that the stripes were all on the p1ss! I phoned my salesman, who was a mate, who went and had a look at the acr and agreed with me. He sent the car back to the graphics place that fitted the stripes (which are not a genuine BMW part number and are always subcontracted out, at least with silver ones). I collected my car 2 days later, and the stripes were a right mess. They didn't line up, the were badly cut and there were scratches around where the useless ***ts kept getting it wrong. Back to the dealers my car went. A week later i got a phone call and my car was ready. This time the scratches were worse, some of the stripes were different widths, the cutting was better but the paintwork all along the stripes was proper f@cked! I went t1ts at the dealer (who will remain nameless SYTNER CITY oops, just slipped out!) All at SYTNER CITY (ooops again!) agreed that it was unacceptable and asked what needed to be done to make me happy..... Factory respray was the only way in my opinion. They took my car away for a month and resprayed it black with a dark silver roof and mirrors, i then had dark silver bonnet stripes fitted. The in-house invoice showed a repair bill of over £4000!!!! Daft ***ts!!! I have ended up with a (so far as i know) unique colour combo and the pleasure of having a MCS JCW courtesy car for a month, but a lot of stress over my brand new top spec £22000 MCS, which i could have done without. I have never seen a Mini with viper stripes that look like a factory fitment and actually am relieved from a looks perspective that mine have gone. Viper stripes.... stuff them up your @rse sytner! Remember, don't settle for anything less than what you would expect from BMW. You haven't bought a Rover after all! Leeroy Mini Cooper S - The Best Fun on More Than 2 Wheels! |
