That's rubbish... I wrap a whole mini in 4 hours...!

Vipers are a pain to fit though, I just did mine and they take about an hour to do properly.

You need to take everything off first and then when you cut use a scalpel. Most "signwriters" in OZ use craft knives...which are blunt and are very tricky to get a smooth cut from. I hope the surgeons use scalpels here, they do in the UK...for a reason.

He is probably ed off that he has been caught out being slack and for having no skill, if you want them done properly, if it goes back stand over him and watch him fit them.

He will do it properly then...!

Check out my photos...

In your obviously expert opinion.

Of course that is not how they are supposed to look, BMW don't make them in dark silver. Apart from that they are exactly the same size as the BMW ones and fitted in exactly the same place as BMW ones, at least the same as the ones that are on my other mini.

Looks good, Cap'n!

I prefer the clean bumper look as well, and that's what my installer and I opted for when he recently put a pair of 6" blunt outlined viper stripes (MightyStripes in origin) on my MCS. The stripes are closely spaced and thus are a bit unconventional. This setup is a great source of contention between my 17 year old son (a MINI traditionalist steeped in orthodoxy - he pines for a classic MINI) and myself, but hey, I like it. I'll slap some photos up at some point (no personal gallery as yet).

I decided that i was 90% okay with how they are and it wasn't worth getting stressed over, since i've made that decision, oddly i haven't given it much thought. At the time i was fuming but perhaps i've had time to cool down .(still arent completely straight ,and the end of some of the stripes, although straight now ,have had a little strip of vinyl laid across ways to straighten the edge, you might be able to make one out on the bit that goes under the chrome strip on the bit round, and i emphasise the word ROUND the honeycombe grill ,on the attached photos)

Just looking at your stripes. In my opinion there still not right. Pics of my 05 faclift MOC in my gallery. They go all the way down the rear bumper and around the chrome inserts. I got mine dealer fitted at Holland Park. They only cost me £50, probably due to the lack of roof, but also as the dealer is a mate. I would take it back and ask for them to be totally reffited or a refund and go to the other place you mentioned where they were cheaper.

Having just picked thjough this thread I havent seen the obvious.

Dont forget that a vehicle with a single rear fog light fitted it must be on the Off Side. Now Im a little rust on this now but was correct a few years ago (ex MOT tester) so is it not the fog thats off centre and not the Vipers?

I paid £200 for the official mini ones. I think they are meant to be £400 but regardless of cost they need to be done properly. When i had mine done they use one of the best fitters in the business. He refuses to cut the stripes against the paint work and makes sure its all heated and stretched properly etc.

I had one complaint about the stripes at the back where it looked strange around the parking sensors and he replaced that section for me without a problem.

It SHOULD go round vents and wipers etc. The guy that did mine removed all these to get the stripes laid down along with any lights etc. He put them right into the gap between the boot and bumper where it closes and between the bonnet and bumper etc.

If it looks off get it replaced. You have every right to complain if it doesnt look 100%.

I will try and add pictures so you can see how mine has come out.

Hope that helps

Ben

I've searched for details but cant find them. so here goes. ----
I want to remove the stripes on my silver MINI. I know I have to use a hot hair drier to get them off and then Turps to remove the glue residue but

has anyone done this?

I don't think you are being fussy, you should definately demand that they do them again. £240 is a lot of money and for that I would expect perfection. If you leave them as they are you will keep looking at the bits that aren't right, the scratches and the air bubbles and in the end you will get pi**ed off and end up removing them, with a lot less money in your pocket. Don't accept second best.

thinking of removing mine No problem with the fitters - they made a great job and i love them, but they have only been on 10 months and are all marked - the marks just wont come off and they look horrible ( looks like rain marks that just wont go away) been back and was told to try brasso ( spelling) on them which i have tryed with no luck ,it was also suggested that i had left somthing corrosive on my car for this to have happened which is rubbish - the very sight of a bird and im out with the detailing spray. is there any sort of gaurantee with decals? i just think for the sort of money you pay the quality can be a bit dissapointing

I have hb hb with white vipers and i also noticed that my stripes were getting very dirty and my usual once a week wash wasn't getting rid of the dirt.

Today i did a full polish aswell and the polish i use is Auto Glym Super resin polish (black label) and all the marks are gone.

I also used it on my mums car and it took out all the fine scratches.

If you shop around you can get it at a decent price.

I had vipers fitted to mine by BMW too, done an awful job to say to least. Same as the OP's, were out of line at the rear of the car but 'OKish' at the front. Somehow the roof was skewed too (I would have thought that would've been the easiest bit!)

Air bubbles, creases and lumps under them (Where BMW hadn't cleaned the car properly) were the least of my worries at the time...

When I had to remove the registration plate because water had got between the plastic and the printed part, I noticed what a bad job they'd done behind it - you would think they would remove the plate and put the vipers behind it. Instead, I found some bread knife cut flaps of vinyl that they'd pushed behind the plate.

Finally ripped them off, got a professional vinyl graphic fitter to put on my side decals and cooper bonnet stripes.

i think this may be the case with mine - also its like the silver is faded in patches ( like rain spots) rather than bieing dirty - the colour and shine has been striped... nothing i try works - fear they may have to go... am gutted!
