Panel gaps !

Had my 05 spec Mini one for a few weeks now and whilst washing it i realised that the panel gap between the n/s/f and o/s/f is a lot different from one side to the other also the plastic moulding has fallen down somewhat. it went into the dealer to be fixed and they said they did there best but cant do anythink about it!!!! Am i being fobbed of is this a common fault?
Any help appricated
