| The REAL King of Bling | Got a quote for colour coded arches Got a quote for colour coded arches and lips etc today for £160. Think the guy at the place said they dont sand down the arches, they add a primer then paint over that. Should I go for that? Its a very good price and one of my friends got a spoiler painted there and he said they they did a good job. PS/B Cooper |

Offline | Seams like a good quote, but I doubt this includes removal, paint & refit. If you paint 'em while they're still on the car despite careful masking the results can be ho-hum. From a distance pretty good, up close...rigghhtt!!! Best results achieved if you have the bits you want colour coded removed, sprayed with etch primer, topcaoted, lacquered then refitted. Then get the whole car polished. Seen a few painted arches/lips where they stayed on the vehicle and the results were not want I'd want on my car. It deserves the best! But that's just me |

| The REAL King of Bling | Thanks for that. I will ask the shop if that is what they do and if they dont do that I'll ask how much more it would cost to get the arches taken off. I would also want it done properly. Would you have to take the bumpers and side skirts off to get the lips painted or would it be ok to leave those on?cheers PS/B Cooper |

Offline | If it comes off, take it off ! If you have any trim (big/small/tiny) painted while it's on the car you will get overspray/contact lines/residue on any surrounding areas however meticulous the masking job or skilful the sprayer is. Depends how much of a perfectionist you are and what you are prepared to pay. From my point of view, if it aint done properly it aint worth doing! |

Offline | I have them painted on both of my Minis and have not had any problems. It only takes a few minutes to take the pieces off the car to be painted. The body shop that did mine did not sand them before painting and they look great. |
