| MINI2 Newbie | I visited my MC at the dealer this morning before picking it up this upcoming Saturday. They had put on the clear plastic covering, but had not yet put on the stripes. I think this is strange. Can anyone attest to this looking ok? I used to work with vinyl for signs in a previous job and am worried about a visible ridge when the plastic of the stripe goes over the edge of the plastic of the bra. yes, no, maybe? Call me crazy, I'm just worried. |

| MINI2 Newbie | Well, it seemed odd to me. Of course I thought they were going to be painted on, and well, no, they're not. My coworker's theory is that if for some reason the stripes got damaged and had to come off then they'd have to remove the bra too if the stripes were under it, and the bra covers a lot more surface area. I guess if I go there Saturday and it looks really bad I will want them to remove the stripes. |

Offline | I would agree with your co-worker's theory. Price wise, the clear bra costs more than the stripes. Should the stripes ever get damaged and needs replacement, this would mean taking off the clear bra as well. Doesn't make sense to have the clear bra over the stripes. Another point to note, with the clear bra over the stripes, in the long run there might be "air bubbles" forming at the area where the edge of the stripes and the clear bra meets. Offline | What an installer told me on the phone (please comment) I am getting a MCS with bonnet stripes... I wanted him to install 3M clear bra over the stripes and on bumper, etc... He told me that the clear film should be put on before the stripes, because of the thickness of the stripes causing a gap immediately on both sides of each stripe, and because the clear film will not adhere to the stripe surface as well as the film will to the bonnet. comments ? I dont know what I should do regarding the stripes and film... Also if you can tell me did the egg come first, or the chicken.... Thanks.... -MadHatter |

Offline | Hmmm... Your dealer has exactly the same concern as mine. Sorry but from an engineer's point of view it's definitely more logical to have the stripes over the bra. The stripes don't need any protection. I say go with the stripes over bra, I know thats exactly what I would do in the future. York Street Richmond Victoria Australia |
