Offline | If you want to see one unpainted look at my gallery, for a painted on there is a picture on page 1 of this thread, it should be as chip resistant as the rest of the car if its painted correctly, so tape shouldn't be needed, ![]() |

Offline | I will be doing this on Saturday. I have a ONE and am assuming that the bumper setup is exactly the same as the Cooper. All I need to figure out now is how to get rid of the chrome strips (Chrome line option).... I will probably remove them when I have the front bumper off the car. I just hope they're not glued??? If anyone wants more detailed photos for any part of this operation let me know and I'll try to get them during the process. That's assuming it doesn't go pear shaped. Wish me luck ![]() |

Offline | Beleve it or not I hit a rabbit at about 60mph it buckled the black trim, cracked the bumper, cracked the radiator mount, tore the sump guard off I replaced the radiator mount, sump guard and black trim piece but the bumper was repaired by a panel beater friend of mine and the end result was a perfect repair for around £100 it is imposible to tell it's been cracked from the outside This is the end result. Offline | Hmm, this is a tricky job. I got the top grill on easily. Then I took the front bumper off, measured up the lower grill for cutting and realised that you need a DREMEL for this job. And I mean a dremel and not some crappy wannabe dremel. The cheap tool I have just sinks into the plastic and stops with the strain...ohh joy. I have drilled the bumper for the lower grill slots but had to refit it to the car so I can go out tomorrow and get the right tool. I guess what I'm saying is "GET A REAL DREMEL", if your going to attempt this job Maybe tomorrow will be a better day for Mickey........ Last edited by onemini : Dec 7th, 2004 at 07:52 AM. |

Offline | Did you find it easy to take off the front bumper? Thats the part im worried about when I attempt mine. Also, I understand that the lower needs trimming with a dremmel so it will fit in the stock bumper, once fixed is it noticeable along the bottem of the grill that it has undergone treatment? Oh and finally. My mini has the new 05 bumper, has there been any changes to the size or shape of the grills which will effect the aerokit grill when installing? cheers geezers. ![]() |

Offline | It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. The pdf says to hold on after you remove the last two bolts at the top as it's only held on by 2 clips. The clips are really solid! Also there are some funny concertina clips at each end of the bumper. The best way to remove it is to release the two small clips near the centre top by pressing them down with a flat blade screwdriver then pull the bumper up at each end to release the concertinas. That should make sense when your looking at the bumper As for trimming the lower grille... I don't think you will be able to see anything when it's all in place. There are two protruding strips of plastic that the lower chrome strip is stuck to. These may need cutting off but I'm going to see if I can leave them (I may find that the aero grill rides on these). I got a new dremel at the weekend so I'm going to cut the grill tonight. I'll keep this thread updated with any problems I come across As for the shape of the new bumper I can't help you ![]() |
