Eddytupper. These are the standard aero grills for the aero kit. You can purchase them from your dealer for about £50 for both parts (1 section for the bonnet and 1 small strip section for the upper part of the front bumper). These are the only 2 parts you will need if your fitting them to a standard S bumper. Follow the advice in this thread and you can fit them yourself.

They can supply for £80.
Fit for an extra £20. All in 1 hour.

According to the thread it would take me 2-3 hours to do.

If MINI-Design were going to charge £50 i'd do it myself. But £100 all in (supply and fit) sounds like a good option to me.

Fairy nuff. When you say the bottom section is bonded on you don't mean they stick it to the existing lower grill do you?

I only have the email as I don't have the car, I couldn't see the point in conatcting them or visitng their workshop. I assume that they remove the existing grill, trim the aero grill right down and bond it rather than cutting the "tab slot/holes" into the bumper.

I will go and speak to them prior to any work starting.
I'm not too sure about having a go myself. The bonnet one sounds fine but I'm nervous about taking the bumper cover off and then "hacking" new slots etc.

I appreciate that it's more cash but more convenient and lower risk. I have seen covers for £90 so this way i get the real thing for £10 more. I'll have a go at anything in the house, I conly live there. But having a go at the MINI, that's sacred.

I asked my BMW agent (Victoria MINI, Harrogate) they could do the bonnet one but wouldn't touch the bumper grill.

I didn't realise you don't have the car yet. I can undestand you not wanting to drill into a brand new car It took me 2 years of ownership before I took the plunge into mini slicing and dicing

Post pics when you get as you want it

One problem I do notice from the photo is that they havnt sliced off enough of the lower grill so it is sticking out slightly too much, mainly on each end. Id mention that to them when they do it.

For comparison...

Installing Aero Grill with racing lights?

I've been looking around and so far I haven't seen anyone describe how they added racing lights to the grill. Anyone know or have instructions online?

Its pretty simple - it has a recess where you have to cut out. When you hold the bracket up to it its pretty obvious. I had to cut mine out

Thanks Baker! I figured it would be something like that but I couldn't find a close enough picture. Thanks again.

Jusy fitted four spotlamps with the aero grille. The recess is easily spotted. Assuming that you have fitted the lights the right distance apart.

Dont rivet the brackets without the grill in place. It wont go on otherwise.

With this in mind.....do you have to remove the brackets if already fitted with standard grill, before fitting new grill....then re-rivet rackets in place all over again

The problem is the brackets come out the grille and then face towards the headlights. Bigger cuts in the grille is one answer but that aint good at all for a finished result.

It aint that big a problem. Take out 2 rivets from the bottem of 1 bracket, leaving the 1 rivet at the top. Attack the centre of the rivets with a drill then pry them off with a screwdriver. They come of quite easily.

That should be enough to move the bracket around to slot the grille on them. It was for me when I did it.

Ok I ordered my set of the aero grilles today. Looking forward to this project as it has been a long time (about a month) since I last modded my car (last mod was Denso IK22's, Livewires, and Screamin' Demon coilpack).

Will post pics when I am done......

I just need the radiator grill (top part) of the aerogrill since i have the other 2 parts. I contacted my dealer and they said it would be $82.50 + taxes CAN just for the one piece!.. does this seem reasonable?? I just dont know about my current dealership, they seem to have a tendency to rip people off... or so i hear.
