Offline | [quote=john_cook]Blimey, this mod takes a bit of effort. I've taken wheels off to paint brake calipers x4 but for some reason doing the aero grill mod seems to have been more involving. Started with buying a dremmel which is a great little tool and will come in handy for lots of little other odd jobs. Taking the front bumper off was easier than I thought (was really dreading it). Cutting the lower grill took ages because I was being pretty careful. Fit is not bad, probably not as good as some of u other guys, but its good enough for me. Had to spray paint the bit of plastic behind the grill so that involved plenty of masking tape and newspaper. I fitted the upper grill the otherday but was baffled by the stupid tightening nuts that BMW used. thanks to POBSEY for adviding me how to fit them back on the new upper aero grill piece. Advice to anyone planning this modification. Well, simple... GET A DREMMEL ! (they are only £30 from B&Q) If u are brave and adventurous enough to try this mod then i'm sure u will find lots of little jobs for the dremmel. Here are my pics. Sorry off topic How come you bought a Dremmel from B&Q for pound30? I think I paid about pound59 from B&Q Hemmel |

Offline | Mine didn't, there is no manual for it in the BMW system. You could print out this thread and say how you would like it, he still probably won't do it. EB/W R53 MCS Highly Modified |

| SHRTSTAK is his name... | I have no problem doing it. My first car was a 1988 volvo 740 turbo. Stuff broke on that all the time, including the grill, twice. So I don't mind getting my hands a little dirty, however my car is a lease and I'm wondering how my MA will feel about me putting on myself. Suppose I'll ask em when I order my grill~ -CE |

Offline | I just installed mine yesterday with some help from a few people in my local club. It took just about 5 hours. Check it out. upper grille removed ![]() bumper and wheels removed ![]() markings for drilling - later we cut in between the holes for the slots ![]() messy ![]() installed ![]() complete ![]() instead of painting the surface under the middle grille we used electrical tape, which perfectly matched the black portion under it. The upper grille removal was a little harder than I thought it would be, but thanks to instructions posted on this site and motoringfile's .pdf, it was pretty straight forward. I love the way it looks now! * I didn't blur out my plates. Please try not to steal my identity now that you see them. |

Offline | Nice job! Welcome to the club ![]() From the looks of it you had help enough, I identified at least 7 other MINI's on your pictures ![]() The electrical tape is a good idea as I had to do a repaint of the black because it didn't hold against stone chips. Let us know how the tape holds? EB/W R53 MCS Highly Modified |

Offline | 8 total I think! I got my aux port done too and someone else got drivng lamps installed. I am happy about the tape so far. Not sure if I could get the lower grille off again if I decided to paint. Only time will tell! |

Offline | all done today, pics by Monday hopefully (no time today for pics).........car looks soooooo much better! I did exactly the opposite that I was warned, ploughed into it, cut by sight without measuring, added holes with little marking up, and 2hrs later it was all done and fits perfect, is even central! Big thanks go to "vigilante" for popping over and letting me abuse his Dremmel, made the job soooo much quicker. ![]() |

Offline | Hi ! I am just new on this forum. I am living in Luxembourg. I got a MCS with chrome line, thing that I couldn't choose, and I would like to replace that chrome grill with the black one of the JCW. Is it that one you are talking about ? (the bonnet grill is quite easy to find but the other part on the front bumper to replace the chrome part is hard to find). Do you know if I can order that online and from where ? Thanks ! |
