Anyone else encountered this?

I was driving along the autobahn other night, in road-work-delayed heavy rush-hour traffic, so doing only about 50 kph. Suddenly, I hear a strange noise from the passenger-side, and I notice that the glass in my wing mirror has dissappeared! I've had a good look, and there's no sign of any damage, and the connectors for the heated mirror look fine - it just looks like the mirror glass fell out!!

I'm seeing the dealer on Monday, but I wondered if anyone else has experienced had a dissappearing wing-mirror?
